Why is the man so cheap/ ? and should I dump him?
I mean the guy is so cheap; would not pay for a 5$ meal for me; complained that the cheese was bad so he would not have to pay!
Is that cheap or what!!!

Still; when the waitress came; he said "she will have toast"....give me a break......what a joke.

You have to ask that question, you can't get much more cheap, that refusing to buy your girl a five dollar meal.
If he's broke, that's one thing, then he should let you know up front the date will be "Dutch", but if he's working and has a pay check, then he's cheap alright.
I'd say dump him, he's unlikely to change. Most men are happy to treat their dates to dinner and a movie. Even if it means saving up for it.

Yes and I hate guys like this. They don't care about their date or about being polite and allowing the girl to have a good time. They should discuss this quietly and off to the side with the waiter or manager if it's a problem, not in front of you.
That IS rude and cheap. Unless he has some great redeeming qualities, I would say dump him.

Hey, I've had the same problem with previous boyfriends...
I think it depends on the relationship...
Some couples like to pay equally, (ie - i'll pay this one, you pay the next etc)
If that is the situation, and he's just not paying his 'share' - then I would talk to him about it.... Especially if he is in a financial position to be doing so!!!
This is just my opinion, but I prefer a guy who doesn't calculate at all!! As a matter of fact, I'm a bit in the 50s for this one, but I like to 'taken care of' by a guy!! However, I still like to buy my boyfriend gifts and pay for things sometimes too...
YES it is CHEAP that he won't even pay for $5 meal.... Especially if he was the one who invited you out for the meal...
If someone invites you out for a meal, say a date, THEY should pay...
One thing I can't stand is having to squabble with someone about money, but if it gets so bad that their never paying, then something's gotta be said!!

I would confront him and tell him that you aren't a gold digger and show him all the reasons how you aren't. Then i would tell him that he is cheap and that is no way to treat a lady at all! My current hubby was like that before we were married when we first started dating. I cut it off at the head girl! You need to also. If he doesn't do so at the beginning...get rid of him! As for why they are so cheap? They are spending the bulk of their money on "something" else they deem as more important.

I don't know why he is cheap? If you don't see your relationship going anywhere yes you should "dump" him. Just a question. Was the cheese bad? I wouldn't want to pay for moldy cheese, has nothing to do with being cheap. Sounds like you are looking for excuses not to go out with him.

That is pretty cheap. It's never good when a guy tries to get out of a bill on a date... that's just tacky.
If he can't afford to go out, he should find something free to do, like go to the beach or a park.

Wow, this man obviously has never heard that it is the man's responsibility to show the woman a good time and take her out, buy her presents.. guess that guy isn't so gentlemanly. I'd say find some one better

He wouldn't pay for a meal for you? If he asked you out and refused to pay for something over $5 I'd drop him and never tell him about it. Let cheapo find out when he sees you with someone else.

That is definitely cheap. Sorry. Tell him how you feel, if he doesn't change or lighten up on the wallet then dump him.

Before you ever go out with this guy again, tell him you can no longer pay for your own meals if you are dating him. You want to honor him in this way, and you respect his decision to pursue you.
You will get your answer before you even leave your house!
