Sounds like she is weaning them. Try feeding them puppy food that has been softened with water.

Six weeks is an ok age for you to feed the pup canned and dry food. Start with a quality canned food twice a day and keep some dry food around too. Try to get the pup onto dry food as soon as possible. I would not worry about a milk replacement, this is pretty much weaning age anyhow.

I'm not surprised mum is refusing to feed her 6 week old pups! At this age their teeth are like needles and they should already be on solids as weaning can usually be started at 4 weeks of age.
Any pet shop stocks food suitable for puppies, and most makes even have an age suitability guide on the packets. I used to wean my pups on well cooked rice (till it's soft but not sludgy) mixed with finely chopped and shredded, cooked chicken (no milk was necessary while they were also still suckling from mum). Get them used to drinking water instead of milk as no other is really suitable other than mum's.

Start feeding the puppy a high quality dog food mixed into a gruel. To make gruel simply soak the food in water and then mash it up. You want to start with the consistency of thick oatmeal, and gradually over a few weeks decrease the amount of water until the pup is eating the food plain.
Make sure to keep the puppy with the mom even if she isn't nursing anymore until 8 weeks of age.
Here's how to find a high quality food for the pup, and mom if she isn't on one already.
Nothing you find at a grocery store is going to be a good food. High quality foods can be found at large pet store chains, or online. A couple of foods I like are Nutro Natural, Innova, Innova Evo and Cannidae.
There are other high quality dog foods. Here's how to spot them:
A high quality food will have little or no fillers such as corn, wheat or soy. These aren't very digestable for dogs, and are common food related allergens. Since you were seeing corn meal in the first few ingredients, those are not high quality foods. Foods list ingredients by content, with the ingredient it contains most of at the top.
A high quality food will not contain BHT, BHA or Ethoxyquin, these are all chemical preservatives that have been linked to cancer.
A high quality food will not contain by-products of any kind. Meat meals are ok as long as the source of the meat is listed, such as Chicken Meal.
A high quality diet should have meat as at least the first ingredient., and be made from human grade ingredients. Foods that don't use human grade ingredients often get their ingredients from less than desirable sources, such as meat from animals that were diseased, or euthanized.
There is another diet option other than dog food. Some people choose to feed a raw diet. This involves feeding the dog raw meaty bones and organ meat. However it is not as simple as throwing a couple chicken bones in a bowl everyday. If you wish to feed this type of diet, do lots and lots of research first. Switching to this diet without knowing what your doing can lead to nutritional problems for your dog. I'll give you some links as a starting point in research if you are interested in this type of diet.

So the pup is almost say, "6" weeks old? You can take puppy food and put warm water on it to soften it and try that. If the pup is still to young to eat. At most stores like wal-mart they have puppy milk and even little bottles so you can feed it by hand. Dont give it cow milk cause its not good for them. Good luck.

If the pup is 6 weeks old, the mother is weaning him away from her. So now it's time for you to begin feeding dog food, dry not wet food. Purchase puppy food for the first year, after that feed adult food. Use dry food, if you provide canned food for your dog, it's stools will be very loose, this is not good. Also, provide plenty of water for the puppy, they normally like it cool,if it gets to room temperture the dog will likely shun it,so be sure it is fresh, cool water.

At six weeks of age the pup can be weaned onto solid food. Use a high quality puppy food and soak it to make it mushy. You can also add a bit of scrambled egg or cottage cheese to boost the nutrition.
"Mom" might just be trying to tell you something!

At six weeks the mom is generally starting to wean the puppies.
Go buy some Gerber baby cereal, the rice kind. Mix it with milk to make a thin gruel, and give that to the pups in a shallow dish (cookie sheets work well). It's going to be VERY messy while they learn to eat from a dish.
You may need to teach them how to eat. Put some of the cereal on your finger, wipe it on their lips. Then lead their heads to the dish and gently push their nose onto the food - not enough to shove their face in it, but enough to get some on their mouth.
They'll figure it out from there.
It is also time to give them a shallow pan of water.
After they've mastered eating the baby cereal, you can try giving them canned dog food, or puppy food softened with water.

This is the time that mama dogs start to wean their pups. You need to provide a slurpy mix of dryed puppy food and water. It is your responsability now to feed them, mama has already given all she can give.
If in doubt as to what brand of food to get ask your Vet. or get a good popular brand of puppy food. It is time to start them on solid food.

At a month and a half you could start feeding them puppy food. Just add a little water to soften the dry food.
