I know that people are saying they are outdoor animals but a wild outdoor animal has the option of building its den and finding the best spot that is not the case with a dog in the yard; they only get what you give. Many a dog has been found frozen to death outside; in the wild the animal could select the area which would render the best shelter, protection from the elements. A dog in a house outside does better with hay than a blanket which they can freeze to ;

I do think it is animal abuse. I sometimes see dogs that are out in their small dog pen ALL the time! They get food and water, and usually shelter, but I think it is abusive because I never see these dogs get any social interaction. Dogs are social animals and they NEED human interaction to be happy. Or at least interaction with other dogs. It is very sad, and though it may not be against the law, I think it is very cruel, and animal abuse. It breaks my heart too, and I have been tempted to steal some people's dogs becaues they don't deserve a dog if they don't want to pay attention to it, and allow it to get adequate exercise.

I do think that an outside dog CAN still be part of the family. THere are responsible owners who do provide them with food, water, shelter, AND adequate love and attention. But I have seen too many people that get a dog as an outside dog, then just forget all about them. That is what really upsets me. The ones that get ignored.

Some poeple just cant have thier dog inside-like if they are renting a house,and the landlord says NO dogs,then there are only three options-outside for the pup,put the pup in the puond or forget the house-which is uassly not done,but i would do!My dog,cant come-inside because he tries to kill our cats -no joke but ourhouse has sun room wich has door that connect to the back bedroom and that is his giant dog house!But he does not always come inside!It is not dog abuse unless the dog has no shelter of any kind,has no food or water,or is shained up by his throat with about 2inches of moving room!Most dogs that live outside though,are still cared for very much in thier family and are walked,groomed, and played with as any indoor dog is!Now-i have a very soft heart for animals ans leave food and water and a nice warm blanket out for strays that are passing by!I hope this helped,good luck

Some people I know have dogs that live outside, and they are perfectly happy outside... except for the fact that everyone else is inside, and they don't get alot of attention. They stay in the fenced-in yard, but one always escapes somehow and goes and plays down the street. she always comes back, though. The worst thing is, is that she is part poodle and has fluffy, curley hair, and she isn't properly groomed. last time I was there I felt I had to just hack off all that thick, matted hair. she looked so cute, after. But anyway, my point is, having an outside dog is fine, espesially if the dogs like it. But be sure to give them just as much attention as an indorr pet, and make sure they are taken care of properly. And make sure no ants get into their food...

Some people just dont like having animals in the house for fear of the house smelling bad. But with proper training that wont be a problem. I have a labrador and she is a house dog. And my house does not stink. I make sure she is groomed often. I am a clean freak and I've learned to have animals in my house without stinking it up.

I have a dog outside, a chocalte lab/shepard mix. I couldn't leave her in the house because some dogs, like her, get to big to handle. Some dogs are meant to be outside, actually it runs in all dogs blood, even the smallest yorkshire terrier to a teacup poodle and all the other dogs. I don't see that is is any kind of abuse. And I don't think that it has anything to do with a lack of training skills, I think that it all has to do with how big your dog can get. Because that can always lead to another question, if you want a big dog then you have to ask yourself, where are you going to put it? That is my thoughts but everyone has there own opinion.

I think the answer to this question is a dog door. I have 4 dogs that range from 2 pounds to 121 pounds. We have a dog door which allows all of them to come and go as they please. It is also good for security as they are not stuck outside when someone decides that they want to rob my house. They come in when it is time for bed and we have a small house. Just like with children, you can always make room

I feel the same too- it breaks my heart. I dont understand why you would wnt a pet or a dog, and want to keep it outside. Whats the point. I know some dogs are known for being able to stand the cold or heat, but personally I think it is cruel in hot and/or cold weather.

It breaks my heart too, dogs are pack animals and we are their pack or family. It really upsets me when people get a dog and throw it outside. Why be so cruel? People are just that way and it is completely wrong and irresponsible. If you are going to have a dog then treat it right.

I think it is stupid for people to have a dog and keep it outside. what is the point of having a dog if u dont show it any love? I think it should be animal abuse. No reason for a dog to be caged up and in the cold all day and nite!
