Vista isn't exactly a program, it's an operating system. It;s the upgrade of Windows XP. It's not free, and there are several versions with different prices. The prices vary from $99 to $400 or so. You can find info on them at microsoft.com. It also won't run on all computers. Your computer has to be pretty new for Vista to run on it. Microsoft has a program called the Vista Upgrade Advisor that you can download and run on your computer, and it will tell you if your computer can run Vista or not.

Hi!
No it is not a free download! Remember there is 4 differant versions. 1. Windows Vista 2. Windows premium 3. Windows business and the fourth one is Windows Unlimited. If it's just for home use I would go for the Windows premium the price is more but it's better than the 1st one. I have heard some people have the Vista and want to go back to the Windows XP. Myself I am going to wait a few years and get more info on the Vista, and the price might come down some! Hope this helps you!

Vista RC2 is a free download from Microsoft, but it's just a beta version that will expire soon. Make sure that your pc is compatible with Vista. If you install Vista over existing XP, and it's a beta release it will expire and you'll be screwed. If you do an install on another partition with XP, it will alter your boot files and look for Vista before XP when it sees a dual boot senario. Vista will always be in the way of your XP install. Just do a hardware compatabitity check to see if your pc will work with Vista, and if it does... go buy the upgrade.

It's not free. It's the newest version of Windows. You either a) need to buy it or b) get a new computer, which will likely have vista installed on it. If you plan to buy it, make sure that it will run on your computer first. www.microsoft.com has a free Vista compatibility checker, which will tell you if Vista will work on your system

Windows Vista is the next version of Microsoft Windows. It is not in any way free. It is also unlikely that you need to get it anytime soon. If you have Windows 2000 or XP, then you will be fine for the next couple of years atleast.

Windows vista is not a free download. I would not try it yet because there are not enough drivers for many computers yet.

It is a good operating system and it is Microsofts latest. Basic is junk but Premium is really good.
It comes free with most computers you buy but there is no free download. And if you do not buy a new PC then you have to pay $249 for it.
