Working night shifts over an extended period may results in something similar to your experience. Could also be a breathing problem or some disturbance or light change; if you are in any way exposed to traffic or to light.

Could be many things, including some insecurity about entering a really deep sleep when you are not alone. Or something that dates back to your childhood.

If I do not sleep through the night I often wake at about 3:00 a.m. I tend to do my best thinking at that time.when the clutter, of other peoples thoughts, is "not in the air." The strange thing is that I wake at 3 a.m. in whatever time zone I am in and regardless of DST!!!?

You indeed have a little mystery on your hands. Maybe some record keeping will help you solve it. For example, if you are by yourself do you tend to go to sleep at a different hour? Is there some distant sound you are not accounting for like a plane landing, train passing, bells ringing or horns blowing, etc.,etc.

Your answer may prove very simple since you have such a consistent waking time to start with. Good luck

Some people have internal clocks. If you wake up every day at 5:45, your body is used to it. Maybe you are waking up earlier in anticiapation for the day, having a dream, or you are hearing things. Why complain, you are never late for work or school!

You wake at 3:20 when you are alone because that is the time when your partner is expected home.

You are more content and relaxed when with someone and able to sleep to your normal time. You are anxious when alone and wake earlier

Sigh. once I awaken Whisper this is simply by soreness (actual). So for me to awaken smiling is uncommon certainly. each and every as quickly as in a blue moon however, i might have a superb dream whilst i'm at that doze degree..and then i will smile in the process the soreness.

Wow, for some reason your body thinks it needs to wake at this time. Your internal clock arouses you for some reason.
