Looking for help locating an engament ring with Marquise shaped center stone, but no the usual way - perpendicular to ring setting, but rather sideways, parallel with the ring setting.

This is something my girfriend is looking for and she saw it in a magazine, which we don't have anymore. Any help locating pictures of it would be appreciated!

Something like http://www.wow-coupons.com/storage/ring_marquise2.jpg or http://www.wow-coupons.com/storage/ring_marquise1.jpg

Thanks!

KrisD - you are the best. Such a great answer and I found Cathrine Zeta-Jones' ring - http://www.diamondsourceva.com/Education/CelebrityDiamonds/celebrity-diamonds-zeta-jones-douglas.asp

Now whoever says that it's an ugly setting - I think it's very different.

Many rings are bought based on the setting, then a specific diamond is chosen, so that people who like the same style but want different sizes of diamonds can do so... I'm sure any jeweler could horizontally set a marquise.

The link below has one, but with a plain band, and I don't know anything about that company. I also saw one (through www.adiamondisforever.com) made by Kwiat, but you'd have to search through there yourself and I couldn't find it on the Kwiat website. It was set horizontally but with a plain band. I haven't seen any as pretty as the pictures you have.

On a side note, Catherine Zeta Jones's engagement ring was a horizontally-set marquise. :o)

I had never seen a Marquise shaped stone perpendicular to the ring setting. I like the first picture, it's gorgeous. Does she not like one of the ones you found and posted on here? You could always have a jeweler make one for you the way she wants. Good luck.

My engagement ring is a 2 1/2 carat princess cut blue topaz with diamond accents and a trilliant cut blue topaz on each side. I didn't want a traditional diamond ring and love blue topaz. The only problem I'm having is finding a wedding band to fit with it. The only one I've found so far is about 4 times the price of my engagement ring.

Go to a jewelry manufacturer/wholesaler. You can design the ring from the ground up, just the way you want it. It'll cost about 60% of retail.
My husband and I were very pleased with Dominion Jewelers in Falls Church, VA.

Go to a good jeweler and tell him what you want. Many times they can put a different mounting on any ring.

Just a thought. You can get the marquis style diamond put anyway you want in the setting. All she would have to do is ask and they will send it out to be sottered the other way.

It does not look right ... but if that what you guys want just go to a jeweler and have him/her set it for you that way.
