I am white and married to a Latina woman, so I think I may be able to answer this question well. It is okay to date a person of a different race than you, but remember that you have to be tolerant of their culture, the more you are accepting the better that part of your relationship will be. As far as it is against the rules of the Mexican people, that is complete bull, the Mexican people are a very accepting and open minded people there are no such rules in your culture...

I am a teacher, and one of the first things I tell my students is I don't care if you are black, white, polka dotted, or striped. I want to know you based on your character, behavior, etc. I wouldn't want to be judged by what you see on the outside but by my accomplishments, and deeds as a human being. What rule book do the Mexicans, or any other race have that says that we can't find love outside of our race? It's ideas like these that keep racism alive and well. If you want to date a white boy, make your cousin come up with the written law stating how wrong it is. Find love, and when you do embrace it, and enjoy it!!

I don't know anything about Mexican rules, but bibically it is okay to date someone outside of your own race. Moses was an Israelite and married an Black African woman. The only thing is not to date someone a different religion than you. Example a Buddist shouldn't date a Muslim. This is because religion gives as a moral and value base, Different religions have different standards.

I would like to know exactly what are the "Rules of the Mexican People"???!!! I've never heard of that one.
I'm mixed (black and Puerto Rican) and my boyfriend is Mexican. Our daughter is therefore mixed as well. I've dated white, black, Latino men....I don't care what country they're from or what color a guy is....all I want at the end of the day is a guy who is going to be honest, loyal, dependable, sincere, treat me right, etc. etc.
There are no "rules" of different ethnic groups in regards to interracial dating.

It's people like your cousin who keep this country from progressing. If she feels that way, why is she in a country filled with many different races? Why doesn't she go back to Mexico where there are only Mexicans?

There is no reason why you can't date someone of a different race. My dad always taught me when I was growing up that people are different colours because some people have darker tans than others ( or less of a tan than others). It sounds stupid but when you think about it that is all it is. Different amounts of melatonin in the skin due to which part of the world you are from. e.g. I am from scotland and I am the color of a milk bottle because we don't get much sun!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Part of what is wrong with the world today is that people can't get past race. If we would start judging people for who they are instead of what color they are the world would be a much better place. All that should matter to your family is how well he treats you. He may be the greatest guy you have ever dated.

What rules? I have never heard of "rules" in any kind of race saying it is wrong to date a different type of race. Everyone can be different by skin color, or in other ways. But we are all human and we can't help who we want to date.

I know that Latina families, especially Mexican ones, can be tough about interracial dating.. If he is really a good person on the inside I think that in time they will overlook his race, as long as you're happy and he treats you right. I wish you all the best and I encourage you to follow your heart babygirl! And I hope that eventually your family does accept him if he is a good man.

Tell your cousin she's a moron...or if you want you can say, "eres un idiota". What does race hace to do with anything? A lot of Mexicans date and marry people that are not Mexican. I'm Mexican and several of my brothers and cousins are married to non-Mexican people.
