Tilting body and head to one side and seems to squeal in pain at the most gentle handling.....could it be an internal injury? I see no blood in stool, appetite is good, but something is definitely wrong. Is an ear infection possible?? I thought where she is sort of tilting to one side but i see no ear redness or irritation and it doesn't seem to bother her if it is touched. Any help here would be much welcomed, thanks!!

If your guinea pig has been acting a little strange maybe you should get a doctor or veterinarian(vet) to check on him or her just to see what is wrong so that nothing bad will not happen to it.

Here is a picture of a guinea pig that has Torticollis (otherwise known as wry neck): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mvc-872s.jpg Does your piggie look like this?

If your piggie is experiencing loss of balance with this head tilt she may just have an ear infection. I do not know much about torticollis but I understand that an ear infection is treatable by a vet.

Since piggies are prey animals they try to mask their illnesses and you may not notice until it has really progressed!

When you bring your guinea pig home from the vet (my piggie had mites at one point and the visit along with his medication cost us about $65 dollars (American) I assume it'll be around the same cost for you) start doing a full cleaning of her cage until she is healed.

A full cleaning is a sweeping out of the bedding, a wash with vinegar (I find its the best to pick up stubborn poop and urine stains), and then wash it again with bleach. This will kill any bad bacteria that may be waiting to harm your piggie! Also wash her food dishes with soap and some bleach. My piggie has been mite-free for almost half a year but I still clean out his cage like this since I worry about them coming back!

I wish you luck with your piggie! I hope she gets better soon!

When a baby moves like that it's because of an earache. A vet should really check him out. If the eardrum breaks it could leave him deaf...
