You have to decide what is more important:
Tell him and he says no and lose him as a friend
Tell him and he says yes and lose him as a friend.
As rare as true love is true friendship is rarer.

First of all take it easy and tell Him hey I had wonderful times with you and when I'm next to you I feel a strong chemistry for you and I would like to ask you if you want to be more than friends and if not than can we still be friends I wouldn't like to loose you as a friend.
Well that's my opinion, but you should try to tell him is the point,

don't bother, been there, and tried that, it doesn't work out good, especially if he is a friend, but if you two aren't really really close as friends, then maybe you should go for it, and tell hiom how you feel..........

i think you should tell him..... i mean if you don't you will always be thinking about it and you will be carrying around this secret forever. Just think he may feel the same way!
