As controversial as this answer might be, I think I'm entitled to speak on the issue, being both intelligent and gay.
First, it is often very noticeable in the world around us that the more intelligent an animal is, the more psychological stress it will be under. Goldfish worry about nothing, and their memory span is pathetic. Dogs are smarter than goldfish, and they can have separation anxiety, or feel stressed about abuse. Humans, who are much more intelligent than animals, are in a world with hundreds of behavior and mood altering medications, psychologists, and counsellors to help us get through life in one peice.
Of course, that explanation only works if you believe that being gay could possibly be caused by some non-genetic environmental factor.
I have an IQ of 144, and when I was young, I mixed with other males, but was always somewhat of an outcast. When I was 12-17 I was bullied by many other boys at school. As a result, I learned that females were generally more accepting of atypical guys than other males. I think that often some of these traits about gays you mentioned (well groomed, rational, sophisticated) could have rubbed off from the women they sought out as friends when younger?
Just a thought.

LOL! That you think gay men are sophisticated, good looking and geniuses and straight men are pigs...the world is much more complicated than that and I am sure these roles are reversed many times.
Also, aren't a lot of gay men trying to be like women??

That's a really broad generalization. You think there are no sophisticated straight guys out there and no gay guys are pigs? You need to get out more.

Just a guess, but gay guys, have more feminine genes than us straight guys. About the goodlooking, a lot of straight guys are too. I won't argue the pig part, that's so true often. lol

I've noticed that, too. All the guys I know who are either gay, bi, or uncertain (they usually register highly on my friend's gaydar) are much nicer and more fun to be with than most straight guys I know. We women probably just identify with them more.

I haven't noticed that pattern. Maybe because all boys private schools are strict and for gays so that's where they learn it but the straits are in public schools.
