As long as you don't eat the poop with him I think you should be fine. My dog used to do this to but we had to train him by rewarding him with cheese when he didn't eat his poop. Of course, the cheese would give him really bad gas but at least it was better than watching him eat poop. I would make sure not to let him lick you because if he has worms, you could get worms too.

There is nothing physically wrong with him. There are a couple breeds of dogs that like to eat their own poop. We had a foster Beagle that would eat his own poop. There are a couple things you can do. One is to watch him when he is outside and as soon as he poops, clean it up right away. If you catch him eating it, tell him "no" in a stern voice then clean it up. There is also something called For-Bid that you mix in their food and it is supposed to make their poop less appealing to them. You can check the local pet stores to see if they have it or ask your vet. We constantly cleaned the yard and also used the For-Bid in the off chance that we did not get it all and he stopped eating his after about a week.

Go ask a vet and see if their is a problem with your dog. This condition is called Cophrogia (sorry if spelling is wrong) if there is nothing wrong with your dog then i suggest either
a) Picking the poop up with a poop scoop quickly before he gets a chance
eat it (quite hard)
or
b) Adding a ring of pineapple to your dogs food. This makes the poop taste horrible so he won't want to eat it.
Hope that helps you.

My dog used to do that too. Then he'd come around and lick everyone. My kid got really sick one time and we found out it was passed from the dog poop. We had to give the dog away.

Theres nothing wrong with that. A lot of dogs do that and its perfectly natural. To make him stop, put him in his cage everytime he eats it so he learns not to.

Adams Meat tenderizer!! Seriously...sprinkle a little bit on his ffod and it will stop him from eating it. I had a American bulldog who did this for months.........One of the breeders told me about it and it really worked!
