Sephiroth is the main villain of Final Fantasy 7, the best RPG game in the history of RPG games, as well as the movie sequal, Final Fantasy 7- Advent Children. He also made appearances in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.
In the game, he was a genetically altered human, treated with Jenova Cells to enhance his abilities, who went crazy thinking he was part of some ancient race and ended up trying to destroy the world just like the original Jenova did. But, he got the snot beat out of him and died before he could pull it off.

Sephiroth is supposedly an Angel that dictated two Grimoire to Moses after the Commandments and Laws were completed. There is also some mention of qabala as part of these Grimoire.

the original video game he appeared on was final fantasy 7. squaresoft just pooled all their former characters for kingdom hearts to make a bigger game.
in Japanese, sephiroth translates to "one-winged angel" so, in a way, he's damned to spend the rest of eternity here on earth, as he cant get to heaven, and in another way, supposedly, according to everyone else, he's evil. but in japan, there are very few things that are truly evil. there can be good demons, and bad demons in Japanese beliefs.
