Chances to win are slim, so dont worry. If you win, it takes a year to proceed, then you move to US. You have to move to get a GC, but then you can leave for up to 1 year.

you need to enter in the year in which you are processed for the visa (the year consists of october 1 though september 30)
true t\you can travel outside the US again for extended periods, but watch this and consult before you do so.
