I think it is time to clear up a few facts here. The wording of your question makes such clarification imperative. Your sweeping generalizations must be cleared up.
NOT ALL MUSLIM MEN ARE AGGRESSIVE DOMINATING BAD GUYS
I am sure this shocks many people but, it is the truth!
Thank you ORCHIDMG for pointing out the many similarities between Islam and Christianity regarding the status of women in a solid home of faith. You have pointed out so many similarities. People do not see the similarities because they are too busy creating walls out of the differences. They are too busy pointing at our scarves to see the truth. Interesting note, no one has ever pointed the finger at a nun or Mary and commented on her oppression because she is modestly covered up. When I am looking for modest clothing, I dress as a western woman not an Arabian woman. When I do a search on “modest clothing” the engine brings up Christian as well as Muslim clothing. Most of it is just what I need!
http://www.religionfacts.com/islam/comparison_charts/islam_judaism_christianity.htm
Islam is the religion. A Muslim, one who practices Islam, lives anywhere on the planet and can be from any culture. Each culture has its own cultural biases towards the treatment of womenfolk. The way a Sister in Arabia must conduct herself in public is very different from the way a Sister in the Punjab would. Not all Muslimah wear burqas! Many do not wear the scarf either. It is a matter of choice for the majority of women if there are no cultural rules for covering up.
Punjabi Muslims wear a loose shawl, part of the Shalmar Kameez, over the hair whereas we all are familiar with the Burqa. Some things, such as modesty, are the same, the basic religious tenets, but dress and freedoms vary greatly. A Punjabi Muslimah, in proper dress for the Punjab, would be tossed into jail in Arabia for being indecently exposed. And she can drive unlike her Saudi sister. Just for an example. In the West the conversion rate of women to Islam is very high. These women are western bred. Few would don the scarf because their hubby told them to! Western women don't tick that way.
As an aside, since donning the scarf have found I get greater respect and better service. Maybe they just want to keep an eye on me so I don’t blow up their video rental shop or perfume counter!
As my sister said one night, "If my husband treated me the way the West says he does, he would be kicked to the curb." This is how every Muslimah I know feels. The women who accept oppressive marriages are often poor, uneducated and the men of less than desirable character no matter the religion involved. We have many such women in the West and they end up in abusive marriages no better than their Muslim sisters. Does one judge all Western women as being of loose morals because one has seen these wretched women working the streets?
Most of these problems are the result of the Saudi Arabian Wahabbis. The Wahabbis are creation of the British imperialists to promote the Anglo-Saxon agenda on the Arabs. The corrupt house of Saud is most pathetic excuse for government in the world. Wahabbism is a sick creed that has only brought ignorance, terrorism and corruption in the world. The Saudi population is kept ignorant on a 7th century credo of ignorance and barbarism. The corrupt house of Saud has been funding the rise of Wahabbism throughout the Islamic world. It is NOT the creed of most Muslims.
Now, let us stretch your imaginations further. The Bush family and the Saudi Family go back many generations. Each family stands to gain much financially by instigating war and unrest in the world. Is it really that difficult to imagine that all of this hatred between cultures has been created to bring about certain long term goals of these profiteers? The installation of distrust and ignorance between peoples fanned to culminate eventually in a disastrous war? Think about it. It is very possible. Think about Bush wanting to give the Saudis the job of protecting our ports? Look at the current world situation. Who stands to profit by these horrors? These two families and their Illuminati friends? To make it work they must create animosity and this they are doing very well.

We are being played off against each other completely. You and all of us who care about our children and the freedom of the world must unite and focus on the forces that are playing all people like a violin. Fear of each other, and divide and rule, have always been the basic tools of dictators, global and otherwise. Most of what you see through the media, around the world is a scam, a sham, a movie for public consumption only.
Never, never, never, do the Rothschilds and the Illuminati control only one side in a conflict. If they did they could not be sure of the outcome. That is just not how they play the game. In every significant conflict they control the leadership of all factions, even though they may fight and battle with each other on the public stage. This is what they do to us today.
What is done is done, and the people of the world, Muslim and Christian, need to work and live together in harmony and mutual respect. There is no other way, except more deaths, more suffering, more conflict – exactly what the Bushes and the Saudis and their friends want. They have horrendous plans for all of us in which all sides will suffer.
Come on peoples of the world, no matter what your race, colour, or culture, no matter you’re your religious beliefs, or belie for spin on life. The freedom, what remains of it, for all of us, is at stake here.
While we are divided on these irrelevant grounds, our freedom is doomed.
Let us work together while there is still time.
War is over when we want it to be.
The world is whatever we allow it to be.

Not all Muslim men are like that first of all. Men have always dominated women throughout history. Even the western women have received their rights only in the last century. Islam gives women more rights then women ever had back in those days. Not all men follow teachings of Islam and thats sad. But lets not make this a Muslim problem. Do you even know how much domestic abuse goes against women in Western countries?

Superiority complex by the noble quran taken to text that suits their own desires. The quran teaches muslims to deal with equity, but culture and religion can not always make the best mix. You will hear many muslim men saying that they are preferred above women, but this religons began in a patriarch society. I myself am islamic and believe in equity. I mean, of course men have some right over women, but there are many rights that women have over men. For example, women have the glory of bearing children and weaning them. Counted as a great deed in thier favor to allah. And man, on the other hand, can have up to 4 wives. If they can afford it. Ok, that was not the best comparison. But birth is a joy a woman has that a man can never experience. I mean I wouldn't want to in the first place, but you get the point.
Muslims men don't want to rule the world. They want islam to be the ruling religon of earth. The world already belongs to GOD, and they want people to accept that. So that when they die, they shall not be the dwellers of a torment. I mean, I am sure it is a lot for someone to swallow, but it is what it is.
"And someone can not believe unless allah will it"-quran
"And there is no compulsion in religion. The right path has verily become distinct from the wrong path"-quran
No, extremists don't follow these rules. That is why they are called extremists. I am sure other muslims can give you way better answers than me. But hope I helped.
PEACE!

all muslim men do not want to dominate the world. the men that do are sexist. and there are sexists in islam as in other religions (which are not relevant to each other).
but lets say we are talking abt muslim men. the fact that womens rights in the musllim countries in asia are very little and few LETS men dominate women.
humans are competetive in school, work, between friends, family etc. wen we see an opportunity we tend to use it for ourselves. theres no denyign that 99% of the things we do is always somehow for ourselves. at the least there is an issue of friendly rivalry in our everyday life.
any human beign would want to dominate another sex, race, religion or even the world wen you are given an opportunity
this is a bad question for a thesis.

It is perhaps a perception potrayed by the media, MEDIA, MEDIA that muslim men want to dominate their women, i am not saying that they dont, there are culturally influenced people who put their culture infront of their religion, and tie it with the religion so that they can find some cover. Muslims are followers of Islam, Islam based on two sources, Quran and the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) does not allow men to dominate their women... in other words, u are saying why does Muslims' God, is so men dominating? God no where in Quran tells mulim men to dominate their women, infact He has made man a caretaker for his woman, sister, wife, aunt etc. God does give men a state of superiority over women, (which is obviously based on the psychological, social and other aspects of life), but doesn't order them to dominate women (including, treating them unfarely or unjustly). if that was true, why the majority of the women in US, and UK be accepting Islam knowing the nature of muslim men (please consult videos of convert/revert women who have chose Islam as their religion, cuz they do a good job in answering this question. In Islam, men have rights, and women have rights, and they are punished if the rights are violated... as muslim women are less encouraged to travel outside their homes alone (to better guard their modesty), muslim men on the other hand are more exposed to the outside world, and are superior/better in handling the matters outside their homes (which may include politics, sports and what not). As outside world is more obvious to us and others via media, it is misunderstood that muslim men dominate their women, cuz thats only the world you and I see. what happens inside muslim homes (nothing bad ofcourse) remain in the house, so others can't really see the other side of it....
A devoted muslim woman is the basis of strong foundation of Islam, because she plays a vital role in the family building... and you must know a strong family leads to better chances of high quality success. Just to highlight a teaching of Prophet (PBUH), a highest possible achievement concieved by a human being is paradise, and God has put that paradise under the feet of a mother... respect, care, obey (as far its not against the religion, but still RESPECT her) and love her, and the paradise almost becomes yours.
No men should think of dominating the world, God hasn't sent men to dominate the world... i can explain it further, but i have already taken too much of your space, may be next time. thank u
sincerly

Family structures can be different in different cultures. However the abuse of Muslim women does concern me. You get fathers killing their daughters for 'bringing shame on the family' - in the UK there is an organization set up to protect women from Muslim backgrounds who are afraid of their families. Time the Muslim leaders took a firmer stand on this.

They don't! Not all of them.
If my husband wanted to dominate me he would probably be sleeping in the streets by now!
He is very great. He takes out the trash, washes the dishes, he cooks sometimes (more than me!) :)
Most Persian women (mostly the educated ones) are like this. They don't take any kind of crap from men.
EDIT:
The women who are dominated by their men are usually poorly educated.

They take the Koran literally which makes Muslim men feisty. They'd be emasculated by the idea of female dominance over them.

For this you need to go to the foundation of their religion the Koran.
In it you will find that they are mandated to bring Islam to the whole world, by whatever means are necessary.
Fight those who believe neither in God nor the Last Day, nor what has been forbidden by God and his messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are People of the Book, until they pay the tribute and have been humbled. - sura 9:29
This is just one example there are many others in the Koran. As for the women thing I have not looked into this issue very much, sorry.

This is a very complex question.
Several theories proposed include, insecurity, domination (not of women, but of men, explained later), homosexuality prominent in Arab culture and plain hatred, of course.
In nearly all the theories is that they are insecure about their sexuality. The women threatens their homosexual tendencies.
In domination, it is a way to supress and fustrate young males by covering the female head to toe. This sexual fustration is taken out as suicidal attacks and is used by their corrupt leaders as control and empowerment for themselves.
The young men being sexually repressed feel the only way to get over their sexual longings and malignment (some say many are raped as young boys) is to kill themselves so they can get the well-known "72 virgins" in heaven and satisfy their sexual longings.
Whatever it is, the problem lies with their very corrupt and degenerate leaders.

The world is too small for us... We wish to dominate the entire damn galaxy... muhuhahahahahahaha...
I'm not answering that question, because you're already assuming that the basis of the question... 'Muslim men want to dominate women and the world'... is a fact, which it's not.
If it's for a THESIS, then you have to give room for reasonable doubt... DUH!
A better question you COULD'VE/SHOULD'VE asked is 'Why does it SEEM like Muslim men...'
Obekabe?
