my daughter had corrective jaw surgery when she was 17(18 yrs ago) she had a bad under bite. What a change in her looks she is beautiful. But it is a long process from braces to straighten her teeth and trips to a New York hospital ( at that time no surgeon's around here to do this type of operation). Her mouth was wired shut for I think 8 wks ate through a long syringe in the mouth, lost some weight .My daughter is very happy with the operation (we had one set back) and she feels better about her self but she didn't wear her retainer for her teeth like she should have & now they are starting to crowed. I just hope her daughters don't inherit her jaw problem.

depending on the severity and type of the deformity plastic surgery with orthodontic treatment in jaw problems can giive a near-normal or normal appearance. age is a real criterium on maxillofacial deformites since both surgical and orthodontic (especially orthodontic) treatments wont work better after adulthood. craniofacial deformites should be corrected in newborn and childhood cos its really very hard to be managed after adulthood.
in jaw surery most patients have retrognathia (lower jaw is located backward) or prognathia (vice versa. these problems are corrected after an appropriate orthodontic tretament in similar surgical procedures. jaw bone is cut and advanced or set back and fixed with upper teeth till the fracture healed. the other jaw problems (asymmetry, micro/macrognathia, anclylosis) have various surgical treatments..

All children are a present from God. They grow to be the only maximum major aspect on your existence. If a deformity, inclusive of a cleft palette, will interfere with that child having a common existence in the destiny, then through the grace of God, a human medical professional can restoration it. God made the newborn, God made the mummy and father, God made the medical professional. Why the confusion?
