The best way to acclimate cats to each other is to put them in separate rooms with a door in between that has some space underneath. That way they can smell each other and paw at each other from a safe distance. They will both learn that the other belongs in the house. When they are finally together, the kitten will probably have to be supervised for a while until the older cat gets used to it. I had a Maine coon cat and they are a very nice and gentle breed. Very loyal companions.

I agree with Kim T. That's what I did when I got my kitten from the shelter a few years ago. I had two older cats (one male and one female, both spayed/neutered) and we kept them in different rooms for a few days. That way they know the new one is there and they have a chance to get used to the idea of a new housemate, but no physical contact occurs. After a few days try opening the door and putting a baby gate or something see through there instead. Then finally allow them to meet. Of course, you can still expect some fighting but it will be less of a shock and things will go more smoothly for everyone. Also, I would really suggest having a litter box for each cat. You don't want anyone being bullied. And if possible different feeding stations for awhile. Good luck! Remember, even if they fight like crazy, just give it time.

About four years ago, I got a kitten, but I already had two 8-year-old cats. You just have to be sure the older cat has their own space and doesn't feel as though the kitten's taking over. And give your older cat equal attention that you give the kitten.

They are going to not get along to well both being males. Big cat is not going to want to play with kitten. I would suggest letting them each have a different spot to eat and litter pans. Get new kitty his own toys and sleeping spot. As for their first meeting have a spray bottle handy in case they fight. Sooner or later they will stop fighting and just ignore each other. Then someday become friends. Have Fun.

Neuter both. Put them together. Let them decide who is going to be boss. You may have to put up with a certain amount of screaming and swearing, but you'll get over it in time.
