I saw a Savage model 110 package rifle (Simmons 3-9x40 scope included) in 30.06 at Walmart priced at $357. I can't find this gun on the Savage website or anywhere else. It seems like a great price and the "expert" working both the sporting goods and paint sections at my local Walmart told me it is not a closeout. Anyone out there know anything about this rifle setup? I have a Savage model 12 varmint gun in .243 and it is a tack driver. So, I was thinking this rifle at Wally world is a steal. Too good to be true? Or should I snag it before it disappears?

Walmart has some manufactures make rifles only available at Walmart. I have gotten Ruger 10/22's not available any where else, they usually have the best prices.Your Savage may be an exclusive,Walmart only. I have several from them, all very fine. Dealers sometime knock them, they can't compete price wise. If you like it you should buy it.Dealers will tell you and show you their book,no such rifle, they can't get them.Edit there are no seconds with rifles and Walmart certainly would not sell them, all of mine are very good. this second rifle thing at Walmart is another urban legend and I have only had 1 unsatisfactory fire arm and have owned several like about 50 or even more I presently have 20 or so I don't .keep count.

Those Savage Package guns are decent enough, but a scope upgrade is almost a must. A $200 and up Leupold or Bushnell would make it better. As far as the rifle goes it's nice and has Savage's accurate 110 action. Those package Sacages don't have accutrigger. The accutrigger will make it all the more accurate.

Bottom line: it's a decent, accurate rifle with a proven action but lacks accutrigger which may or may not be important to you. The scope is low quality but will do if you have to.

The rifle is in the Savage Catalog. Model 110GXP3 - Long Action. While the scope that comes with may be somewhat disappointing, I believe you will be happy with the rifle. Don't pay attention to answerers like Fowlmouth. Savage traditionally has, and continues to produce serviceable rifles, at an affordable price. Their bolt actions on the market today, are smoother than many of their competitors, and I am a fan of the Accu-trigger. As for the price, I wouldn't jump on it if you're not really sure you want it for two reasons: One... The scope is cheap enough, that I would (in my head) not even consider it into the pricing, therefore, while a fair price, not exceptional. Two... Walmart is pretty uniform in pricing and stocking, more than likely you can find one anytime. Good Luck

I have this same rifle chambered in 300 win mag and while it kicks like a mule it is a fine shooter, never had a problem with mine , I did change the scope and rings on it. Overall great rifle for a great price. I very rarely use it anymore as I have purchased a custom Encore chambered in 280 rem. with a 26 " bull barrel that will put factory 140 grain accutips, 5 shot groups, in virtually the same hole at 100 yards. and it dont kick at all.

Savage has a great reputation for building great affordable guns and are the most accurate mass produced, straight out of the box rifles. I have a 111 Chieftain left hand bolt action in .30'06 and it's a tack driver!

I'd buy it in a heart beat. I have a 110GX in 25.06 and it's as accurate as my Rugers, Remingtons and Brownings. The scope and rings would have to go. The gun is only as good as the optics it has on it. Mount a good quality scope on it and you'll have a gun that will last a lifetime.

Buy it but be warned it will be much better with a new scope and rings,as in Leupold.
