What does this mean? Why do they dress gothic, but do not consider themselves gothic? I have no idea about this stuff, my son is dating a straight edged teen and I would like to know what that is.

they don't drink, or do drugs. but to make up for their losses in that area they have alot of sex with different people and are very violent. I've seen them gang up and beat the **** out of people who are walking out of a bar, b/c they don't like it when other people drink. honestly, their a bunch of *** holes.

straight edge means that they don't drink, do drugs, or have sex or anything like that....
gothic isn't just what you wear.... its more than that (thats what i have been told by this chick that i know who is gothic). its about the way you act and what you believe in too.
straight edged is a great thing to have your son date! lol i had a few friends tho that claimed they were, and actually weren't by any means, just didn't drink but did everything else.

Straight-edge is good. Goth clothes are just kinda cool, and it's a big part of the punk movement, which is in layman's terms about the same as goth.
A straight-edge teen treats his/her body like a temple. They have vowed to abstain from drugs, alcohol, even things like caffeine.

The philosophy/life-choice that humans should have strength, pride, dignity, honor, and self respect; that they shouldn't engage in activities that are a disgrace to their minds and bodies. (such as ingesting and/or becoming addicted to harmful substances for fun, lying and/or being two-faced, and sharing your body sexually with another person when there isn't even a true emotional bond there).

someone who thinks doing drugs are cool but too brainwashed to try. not saying kids should do drugs, but why the need to label yourself something. making such a point that you do not do drugs is just a big of a waste of time as doing them is. just be. if you don't good for you, but f*ck that expression.

straight edge means that they dont drink, do drugs, or anything like that... a lot of them dont have sex until marriage... some of them dress punk, some goth, but they dont like to put themselves into categories...

I think it means no drugs, smoking or sex. They are good kids so what if they dress in goth that is better then drugs or smokin or sex.
