My partner has been to the docs and put oil in his ears and has had them syringed. he is still deaf in one ear and partly in the other. The nurse took out a lot of wax but said she could not get it all out. We are now trying warmed Olive oil, as his ears are now ringing. Any ideas.
PS It took 10 days to get an app 4 ear syringing

I swim often and have the same type of ear problems, olive oil always does the trick for me but it certainly needs to be warm and lay down to put the drops in otherwise they don't go down the ear canal, they need to be administered at least 3 times a day.

This usually works and leaves no need for syringing.

What third world country are you in? Syringing of ears was discontinued 9 years ago because of the problems it caused with water causing perforation and greater ear infections.

The correct way is to use warm oil and a product called CERUMOL which softens the wax and causes it to dissolve and run out the ear

Your method of olive oil is OK but does not have the qualities to dissolve the hardened wax as quickly.

ER rooms use a device to look into the ear and a special loop to remove the wax. This is far safer than syringing. .If it is a problem take yourself to a hospital Unless of course you are in India, Pakistan or Indonesia!

This happens to me every year,I make too much wax in my ears.

He needs to phone the surgery on monday and ask for an appointment as soon as possible to get the rest of the wax out, tell them his ears are ringing,in the meantime keep putting the olive oil in to soften it.

I would go to a ear specialist asap!! If he had no ear problems before he left then i would really be concerned. Maybe he picked up a parasite or something.
