I don't know who you mean, but i have long really thick hair, and i use curlers.

You can get them in boots they have a snap on sort of clip.

You open them wrap your hair around them, close them - sleep in them wake up and your hair is really curly

I put them in when my hair is damp - then hair dry it & them sleep in them.

The curles last for a good couple of days.
