It is true as one respondent commented, that Ali got the benefit of one or two favourable decisions. However, he also got off the deck to win fights, he also fought punchers like Liston and Foreman and prevailed. He also beat dogged fighters who came forward out of a crouch, Frazier. He could befuddled sharp punchers with fast hands, Patterson. He could adapt to find a way to win, Foreman, Norton and Spinks.

He could match Tyson for hand-speed, could move in an out of distance to frustrate Tyson, could take a punch and had terrific recovery ability. I think he would have completely outboxed Tyson. Certainly the 1967 version would have done.

Fast combinations and then step to the side, leaving short-armed Tyson hooking at fresh air. Tyson would have been bemused and beaten. Tyson was a front-runner, had no way to adapt, couldn't win fights over distance.

Great fighter Tyson, in his brief prime, but Ali always found a way to win.

Tyson in Round 3

The two things about Tyson that nobody talks about is that he can be frustrated easy and can quit when things don't go his way and that his chin is very brittle and Tyson is at his best when he is SET and can punch a stationary target. I think Ali would fight Iron Mike very similarly like he did with Foreman except that he would try to "humilitate" Tyson by dancing and making him miss and then do "bolo punches" to make him look silly. I think after he frustrates Tyson, he would just JAB Mike up and counter with body shots when Tyson missed. People underestimate Ali's chin and even when Tyson connects, Ali would shake it off and tie up Tyson in clinches and frustrate him. Tyson will start to press and Ali will keep countering him. Ali would jab and cut up Mike's face and would win a TKO/cut stoppage in the 9th round.

Ali. Tyson's only shot would have been if Ali got careless & Tyson got his best punch in. Otherwise, an Ali in his mid-20s (pre-suspension, which I regard as his peak, although he wasn't bad when he came back either) easily outboxes & outmoves Tyson.

Ali at his peak was not the Greatest, but the 2nd Greatest to Joe Louis.

Mike tyson was a very good puncher, but ranks about 12th all time.

Ali KO's Tyson in 7.

Ali is not the best! Tyson would crush him in his prime. Ali was a showman he got at least 2 decisions that he did not earn because the fix was on. Does anyone really think Don King did not fix a few fights in his day. I am no Tyson fan but all this CRAP about Ali being the greatest sportsman of the century is bull!

Ali would outlast and outbox Tyson everyday of the week. Tyson would be worn out by the 3rd round!

A better match up would be Tyson vs Foreman!!!

(Ali--not a draft dodger!)

Tyson may have been destructive, but you also have to know when and what to take advantage of, otherwise known as strategy and face it Tyson just acted like a bull in a china closet. Ali used his head and was prepared.

Quickest big man against a slugger. Tyson has to be able to hit Ali to KO him. Ali win by KO, decision, or my pick Tyson is disqualified due to his frustration at not being able to hit Ali and he bites, elbows, or does something to get out of this fight. Ali was never KO'd.
