What do people go against christian beliefs so much?

They don't go against hinduism or daoism or muslim or judiasim. Some atheists believe in buddha and all different types of things. Is it because there is a God and people are trying to hate him so much? Is it because people know that the other religins aren't real that's why they are not attacking them? Don't call yourself and atheist and believe in other religions other that Christianity. Also if you're going to attack anyone attack every one not just one group.

Buddhism and Hinduism and the others are not enemies of Satan. Christianity is an enemy. He hates us and will stop at nothing to discourage us.

This board is used mostly by Americans. Most American atheists were Christians once; that's the religion they're most familiar with, so that's the one that gets most of the criticism.

Buddhism is not a religion in the strict sense, because it features no deity. The Buddha was a real person, so those who choose to follow his teachings do it not as a "belief" but as a practice or a study.

Technically, the only requirement for being an atheist is lack of belief in any god. Therefore, it's possible for an atheist to believe in almost anything else.

An atheist who converts to, say, Hinduism would call himself a Hindu, not an atheist.

Finally: If you feel unfairly attacked, don't whine about the attackers -- defend yourself! Think about it and come up with some good arguments.

Have you ever done any research into the history of Christianity? Christians have been the religious bullies for quite some time. You can't really say that about any other religion in the world because they are peaceful and respect others' beliefs.

Everyone knows that everything has an equal and opposite reaction. Thus, the Christians are losing the dominance they once possessed. Now the pendulum is swinging the other way into the favor of other religions. Christians don't like this one bit and unfortunately there's nothing they can do about it anymore because burning, raping and pillaging -- in the name of God to scare Heathens and Pagans -- are crimes in most areas of the world.

Where to begin.

"Atheists believe in Buddha." There is just so much wrong with that statement on every level that I have to think it's quite pointless to even attempt an answer.

I know you "Christians" aren't known for precision in the definition of the terms you use, but "atheist" means "I don't believe in God." ANY God. If you've talked to an "atheist" who says he "believes in Buddha" (incidentally, Buddha is NOT a god), he's just as ignorant as you are, only with a different label attached.

But let's just get to the "real" question. "What do people go against christian beliefs so much?" I won't even bring up the grammatical error. You know why? Because we live in an 85% "Christian" society. Because in America, fundamentalist "Christians" are doing everything they can to impose their Bronze Age belief system on secular society, exactly like their counterparts in the Mid East; and moderate "Christians," while not as rabidly insane, nonetheless allow the fundies to operate under the veil of the assumed respectability of religion. If we lived in Lebanon, I'd complain about Hezbollah; but we live here, and our version is called "The Christian Coalition."

Because there are many Christians who are bigots and are filled with hatred toward people who are gay or atheists. That is something you don't see in the eastern religions. By the way, a lot of people hate Jews. Have you ever heard about the Holocaust?

actually christianity goes against jewish belief....

except the part that jewish belief doesn't presume to apply to everyone, per se. it applies to jews.

above was actually pretty insightful, alot of the things in question really have nothing to do with what the person believes, but rather how they respond to christianity.

I remember a quote I read... something about that everyone is an athiest towards beliefs other than their own, they just can't understand how anyone could be athiest towards THEIR beliefs.

I am Jewish. I very likely do not believe in *your* god, despite the fact that you very likely would say that you believe i the same one I do.

I *entirely* disagree. by nature of how God made us, the truth as we are ready to understand it, is self-evident.

if you have to convince yourself to believe something that doesn't "feel" right... then something is severely wrong.

You sound like someone who might be willing to dialog about this. What I have against the Christians that I meet is they will not open up to hear my side also. I will be willing to talk and hear their side if they hear mine.
Hindu and Dao belief systems are very positive that is why people are open to them. Muslim hmm has then same problem that they feels that if your not Muslim your doomed.
I will say this: there is nothing better than knowing your in the heart of god. Have you not heard this . Do not say "god is in my heart, but say I'm in the heart of god"

Christians and Muslims are Attacked because they try to force their religious beliefs on everyone else.

Muslims with bombs and guns, and Christians with attempting to pass their religious beliefs into Law.

the Christians will get more attention here in America because they are very prevelant. they are rapping on our doors at dinner time, invading our homes with commercials and littering our cars with their propeganda. waveing signs at traffic lights and trying to take things from us all because they threaten their sensebilities.

throughout history they spread their religion through war and intolerance. they killed people that believed any different that they did. they defiled sacred places and built their churches on top of them to ensure that the land would remain desolate of the natural energy that it once had.

Hindu did not do this.
Buddahists did not do this.
Pagans did not do this
Athiest's did not do this.

it is not that the Athiest believes in our gods, they simply respect our beliefs because we do not try to make them think like we do.

Buddhists don't damn people to hell for having different beliefs. Many Christians preach tolerance but in return have no tolerance for others. I do understand that not all Christians are like this but there are a few nutty Christians that ruin it for everyone else.

It is the ignorant fundies that seek to impede scientific progress by slowing the use of stem cells. It is ignorant fundies that claim a persons sexuality is a choice. It is the ignorant fundies that want to stop gays from exercising their right to marriage.
