The solar system is designed by a wonderful designer and works like a huge clock. Gravity keeps things moving around each other. Moons around Planets around Suns around Solar systems around Galaxies. and none of them collide and everything runs perfectly. Did you Know that We only see one side of the moon!! The moon turns with such Accuracy that the same side faces the earth all the time!! and it always has! the only way to see the other side is from space.Clearly God is a wonderful designer!! Even the universe is proof of this!! I think Science and God go hand in hand and this Question Definitely belongs in the religion and spirituality section!! Thanks and God Bless!!

Once God created the point from which all matter exploded in the Big Bang the universe has been expanding, there has been scientific evidence to back this up. Something about the red shift, don't 100% remember what that is though. That proves that at one point it had a beginning. If it were constantly expanding and contracting forever, then entropy would have taken hold and all energy would have been used up by now... an infinite universe is impossible for that reason (and others). What will happen in the future? Will the universe collapse on itself? Who knows. What we do know now is that it is expanding.

Galaxies are expanding, but in a few billion years, they Will retract again. Our universe in similar to many rocks tied to rubber bands. Imagine, holding the end of an elastic rubber band, on the other end, there is a rock. You throw the rock, it travels fast and far, but eventually the pull of the band becomes so strong that it retracts quickly. Our galaxy is like the rock, as well as millions of other galaxies all with their own band. The band is gravity. Everything is attracted to ever thing. One day, our universe will implode, and my theory is, the Big Bang will happen again with the expanding of new galaxies. This has been going on forever...

nothing has been proved to give a concrete answer to that. I believe the Big bang. God could use any means to make the universe so why rule that out. since there is no huge amount of gravity the force of the Big bang will continue to force the galaxies apart. some Scientists believe though that the universe cycles through expansion and contraction.

the universe is constantly expanding and will continue to do so forever. There is not enough matter in the universe to create enough gravity that will in turn reverse the expansion and end the world in a big crunch.

The universe, indeed the very fabric of space itself is expanding as a result of the big bang and will continue to do so.
Now millions galaxies are being pulled towards the Great Attractor, in fact our own galaxy is one of them. I have my own hypothesis about what lies at the heart of it, I believe it's a loop of cosmic string.

Spacetime itself is expanding. No one knows if there's enough matter in the universe to ultimately slow and reverse the expansion, resulting in a "big crunch," or if the expansion will go on forever.

There are so many theories on that, but it doesn't make a difference really on either one, there is a book called The Universe that has a lot of cool theories that make a lot of sense if you want to find out more

Well its not an effect of gravity - the acceleration if anything is something with the opposite features of gravity so I have no idea in what sense we could be said to be falling towards anything?

I don't quite get it how are people supposed to know if the galaxy is expanding or not if they are so tiny compared to it especially their technology is not very accurate at times
