I was just thinking:

How would diaper checks be run in a daycare type of enviroment? Tons of kids, how would you know who made a mess, or if any of them made a mess?

How can they find who made the messy diaper?

Licensed daycares have a fairly low ratio of children to "teacher." Kids get changed at each feeding and between if it is discovered they have pooed.

I worked in daycares all thru college w the diapered crowd(infant -3). There were 3 teachers in all the rooms and about 9 kids. All the kids were changed as soon as they came in, after every meal & snack, after nap time and if they were there past 4pm one more time. You always changed a poop right away and the classrooms arent that big - you could always smell it. Then to find the offender you lift each baby infront of your face and take a nice big inhale - thank god for the talkers who would just tell you!

My daycare always had a daily sheet for each child and when they changed a diaper, they wrote down if it was wet or dirty, how much they ate and when, all the important stuff to keep track of each kid.

I volenteer in a nursery.

the babiea are checked every few hours- especially after breakfast and lunch. depending on the ages the children are picked up and carried or cradled a lot so its easy to feel a wet or dirty diaper. the older kids who can walk are normally played with and are sometimes held by the staff so they can also tell pretty easy without the regular checks
