I was just thinking:

How would diaper checks be run in a daycare type of enviroment? Tons of kids, how would you know who made a mess, or if any of them made a mess?

How can they find who made the messy diaper?

I worked in my church nursery for over 6 years and we had papers we kept track of everything each child ate, what time they slept and we conducted HOURLY diaper checks on every child. If they were dry we put dry next to the time we checked and if they needed to be changed we changed the diaper (ALWAYS WITH DIFFERENT GLOVES FOR EACH CHILD) and we wrote if it was just wet or if they had a bowel movement (BM). Its great for parents to be able to know exactly especially if the child gets sick or hurt.

I worked in a daycare center as well. For about 3 1/2 years and we did NOT change the kids every hour or 2. It was 3 times a day (unless they really needed to be changed (Ie: they were soaking wet, or had pooped)) we would check them after snack time. again before nap and then after nap. If we smelt a poopy diaper we did the sniff test. then also looked in the back of the diaper to see. It's not hard to figure out which child it is. The only room that wrote down when the children were changed and when and what they ate was in the nursery (6 weeks to 12 month old children). Every daycare is diffrent. Every states requirements are diffrent.

Every two hours every child is changed, regardless of need. If a teacher smells anything "lovely" in between, the teachers go child to child and when they get close and the smell is stronger they pull out the back of the diaper to see if anything is in there. Once they find it, they change it right away. If a child is really wet in between changes they will know because there may be dampness around the edges of the diaper, or the diaper is extremely squishy when felt. Each teacher is only responsible for 10 kids MAX, and that is if they are older. Most kids are in a class (or should be in a class...) with 4-5 children, so it doesn't take a lot of investigation.

I work in a small daycare. I have sheets that I right down what they ate at each meal and snack and when their diapers were changed and whether it was a wet or dirty diaper. Every 2 hours, I check and change diapers. Usually you can smell a dirty diaper and we just go check each child until we find the owner. Usually when you get close to him or her, you know!

my daycare checks diapers every hour to see if they need changing (with the exception of nap time). If they notice someone needs changing in between, they get changed. I get a report card everyday. This is the second daycare I've had my son in and they've all done the same things.

maximum daycares do it the way Max's momma suggested. They do an finished round of the children in diapers, no matter if or not they want to get replaced or no longer. on the day care I supervised in we did hourly diaper time, different mom's requested that we no longer substitute the newborn in the adventure that they were dry/sparkling for monetary causes and we complied, we would basically tape them again up and seize them on the subsequent round.

we change the diapers 3 times per day...at 10:00,13:00 and 16:00 and check the kids (yes, smelling the but) at 17:00 again before they go home..and always change a poo diaper right away if we smell it or the kid himself tells so...changing all the diapers every single hour is completely impossible, we would ONLY be changing diapers...how do you know as a parent when to change the diaper??? same thing.

At our center, we have certain times of day that everyone gets changed (I have the older twos and three year olds). Usually, if there is a "stinky" in the room, you know it... and it just takes a sniff to find out which one it is. Believe me, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out which child has poop in their diaper!

Change them every couple hours like you would normally do and if you smell poop pick them up and do the Hinee smell test. Thats what we do because you can never tell.
