If they all started asking for higher wages would it bump wages of legal workers up?

say for example undocumented wages were bumped up a dollar or two under what legal workers would ask for, would that small difference cause legals to work for the same so both illegal and legal workers have an equal chance?

why shouldnt they make the same amount of money. alot of people take advantage of them because of the situation they are in. they are not taking job's away from''legal'' citizen's. they are hard workers and unlike some"legal'' citizen's are not lazy.

Here in California, they are turning down jobs paying over $10 an hour. Our minimum wage is over $7.00. What companies do is they make money in not payin for reasonable work condition. Companies don't pay for workers comp and other neccessities. What is worse is that if a illegal immigrants get injured, the boss just send them to the hospital and tax payers have to pay for the employers error. ALso if there is any wrong doings, the illegal immigrants are less likely to sue and they are not so willing to report on their bosses if they break the law. My concern is not they pay, but rather reasonable work condition for ALL.

Because California is in a completly different socio-economic strata than the rest of the country. Cost of living is higher, food, fuel, basic necessities for the house, are all higher. It was not the Republicans that defeated the minimum wage increase bill. They sponsored it. (That means they wanted it) They proposed it. It was the democrats that refused to go along with anything this administration tries to get done. What ever happens in the world, if it's bad, Bush did it. What a political philosophy and strategy. Worse than shameful, it's despicable. But we are not supposed to see and understand what's going on. Ask your Democratic candidate which party defeated this bill.

Thats a good question. But no I think what would happen is the employers would then hire the legals not bump the wages up.

They do ask for higher wages, I think that is called a raise, and on my job they ask and receive, they make the same amount of money as a legal person, I don't understand why people think they are paid less money for a job than anyone else and if they don;t like what they are paid they find a better paying job down the street. It is a myth that they earn lower wages than a legal doing the same job, just ain't true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

inflation is bad. wages to not need to be highered. if they don't like what they are being paid then they should find a job that pays better, not whine about how the one that they signed up for isn't in the fortune 500.

That's a good question. I think they all should be paid a fair and decent wage with BENEFITS if these companies feel they need to use them.
