My brother has psoriasis too. He had found that giving up potatoes helped more than anything else.
You might have a food sensitivity. This is not the same as an allergy, and will not show up as one if tested. You should consider cutting out certain known things which can make psoriasis worse. These include but are not limited to:
Potatoes, milk, wheat, rice, all grains.
Do these one at a time for at least 2 weeks. Maybe one will be the key.

I suffer from psoriasis and I've also got a fungal infection on my arms which I got through a blood infection. I knwo how you feel, it's not nice. I'm 23, female. I can't wear nice skimpy tops etc as I feel that people will be constantly looking at my hands. If I were you I would have told that arrogant p***k where to o, keep his nose out of other people's business. If he came to near, he might catch it aswell! One thing I'm going to say to you is that you will alswys be conscious of it. More so than othe people. If people can't take you at face value and see you for who you are then that is there trouble. One good cure for it though is UV lights. You can either buy a UV bulb and shine it over your hands for 1/2 hr a day, or trat yourself and book some sun bed treatments. It does work. Good luck

i have it also...on my scalp, neck, face, back, chest, stomach and a couple spots on my legs..Its sucks. With over 5 years of trying nothing has helped or made it look better but I do suggest, if you have decent insurance, there is a new topical formaula called taclonex, mine was horrible and i have been putting it on my back for about a week and its not a pink color and all smooth. Cause the first thing to go away is the flakes, then the thickness, then the rednes. So,..im hoping this works. other then that they have just came out with a laser treatment called xtrac laser therapy. I suggest looking into the taclonex though, its working wonders on me!!!! Only thing is you may have to go get some bloodwork because it can cause excess calcium because it absorbs into the skin. But...it has worked for me so far!!!
Hope some of this helped!! I wish you the best with it. Its a horrible thing to deal with!!!
Best wishes hun

The juice of the Mangosteen fruit!
PSORIASIS :-
For so many years Holistic physicians have been teaching their patients that skin conditions such as psoriasis cannot be healed by skin creams that suppress the condition but do nothing to heal it.
There has been a paradigm shift in the thinking about what really causes psoriasis. The old way of looking at this condition as a condition only of the skin is beginning to slip away.
There is now evidence that psoriasis is not a skin disorder but in fact, a gut disorder. Toxic overload of the liver due to the increased permeability of the small intestine will lead to toxins being deposited in the skin. Thus you have such things as psoriasis, eczema, and sclera derma.
Another factor in psoriasis is fatty acid imbalances. Because fatty acids are related to inflammatory responses in the body, we see them often in conjunction with psoriasis.
Heavy metals can also play a role in psoriasis. With the increase of heavy metals in our environment, the skin becomes increasingly bombarded from not only the surface of the skin but also the injestion of heavy metals through the gut membrane.
The skin also serves as a crucial permeable membrane for the release of toxins form the body.
Skin irritations may directly result as these toxins permeate the cutaneous layer and/or the toxins themselves may provoke skin problems even before that -- as they accumulate within the body. For example, oral intake of nickel is usually the acknowledged reason for chronic eczema.
One controlled study found that, after adjusting for age, patients with atopic eczema excreted considerably higher amounts of nickel than healthy persons, perhaps signifying amplified intestinal absorption of this toxin.
Xanthones from Mangosteen not only heal the gut so that it will stop the absorption of heavy metals through the mucosal lining, they will also reduce inflammation of the skin from external contact.

I don't know where you live but phototherapy often helps. If you can expose your skin to the sun (not too long, half an hour twice a day) or failing that you can buy special lights or get phototherapy at hospitals. It is a simple first line treatment, if that doesn;t work, you should consult a dermatologist.

I have used prescription Niazoral and Desowen (Desonide) lotion. Both work wonderfully on me! They are costly, however, unless you have health insurance.
In a pinch, I've also used OTC cortizone products to stop pain and itching right away. My itching and pain can make me absolutely miserable!
Don't for get that you have a great friend out there who can help with OTC (over the counter) products - YOUR PHARMACIST! You might try asking them.
Good luck to you!
