My old man is Mexican. Born in Mexico and plans to retire to Mexico. He is proud of his heritage. But he is a U.S. citizen, pays his taxes and even did his first election this year. He wanted to become a citizen to make it easier for other immigrants. He plans to vote so he can protect his rights. He was concerned with the way so many people feel about immigrants some of his rights may be taken away if he didn't become a citizen. He has three kids that were all born in the U.S. He wanted to make sure he could stay here for his kids. But he is still Mexican , born Mexican, Live Mexican and die Mexican. Being a citizen of the U.S. can not take that away from him. His heritage is something he is proud of.

I am a Mexican citizen and a resident in the U.S., I'm not sure if I do want to become a U.S. citizen, in fact I don't think I will, it is true that they do get more rights, but on the other hand, when my dad took the test, most of the questions were practically telling him to forget about his background. Forcing the whole idea about 'only American' and I don't know what. It made me upset. I feel the same way you do though, I was born Mexican, I'm living Mexican, I do want to die Mexican. I didn't ask to come here anyways...Yeah there might be a job here that isn't over there, but is the treatment, prejudice, and racism worth it?? Screw that, Im very proud of my roots, they make me and they make my beliefs, and in the end, we didn't come here to listen to what gringos have to say about us did we?? Keep up that pride!! Nuestra raza is rising!! And even iF we do get our citizenship of the U.S., it means nothing, that name doesn't take our heritage or pride away, nada puede.

Also, to clear things up to other people, NOT ALL MEXICANS ARE COMING HERE, there are many over there, and the revolutions that started, started because of the U.S. and many Mexicans died. Another thing, many people make it there and have wonderful lives over there. It really depends where people are from. Mexico has different people from different places but the culture is great, so are the people. Coming here doesn't make Mexicans cowards, when we come here we're not thinking about the rest of the country, we're thinking about our families.

And to the stupid people out there, Mexicans have ALOT to be proud of. Culture, customs, beliefs, history. A government doesnt make a country. In the end, this is all the U.S. has, a better government. Thats it. Mexico might not have the government but it has the people, and all the other things I have named above. Quedate Mexicano, con la sangre Mexicana y el corazon 100% Mexicano y se orgulloso ya como eres.

I happen to half mexican. would you say that i was born mexican? Probably not, because I don't count as mexican to others. Yet, I am Mexican. My family came here and shed their mexican identity in a way so that they did not forget where they came from. But, they learned to assimilate and learned english while teaching their children both heritages. So, my question is: what exactly is Mexican identity? Is it the stereotype or is it what you contribute to it? And, if it what you contribute to it, then you will do your best to be proud of both citizenships, teaching people about your identity, but understanding that both identities are fluid and interchangeable.

If I were a Mexican I would want to be an American citizen and shed my Mexican heritage and learn to speak English. The Mexican people are a very proud and stubborn race. To bad they have nothing to be proud of. What has Mexico ever done for any other country. Sneaking over the border is illegal and its cheating, therefore everybody who sneaks is guilty.

I am glad you are proud to be a Mexican but those of you who come here to the US are not helping your country to grow, you are not there to open a store or a factory, you dont have to live with the poverty because there is poor there and poor here. Two different things. You bring your children here to get an education and cant figure out why they dont care about their homeland -its because this is thier homeland -your children will never feel as you do because you left instead of staying and making it better.

In your other question you were talking about starting a civil war here in the U.S. If you are so proud of Mexico and of being Mexican why are you here? Why don't you go back to Mexico and start a civil war there to improve your own country?

So what are you doing in AMERICA! You love MEXICO so much get out and go home! YOU PEOPLE come here illegally then cry and complain about how you're treated. What is it with you people that you don't understand the word ILLEGAL? GET YOUR WHINY HIND PARTS BACK ACROSS THE BORDER WHERE YOU BELONG!
My grandparents/parents/aunts & uncles came to America for a better life and did it LEGALLY and jumped through all the hopes to become LEGAL AMERICAN, GRATEFUL CITIZENS. ALL but one lived and died here as an American. The other is still alive and is PROUD to be an American. They worked hard to become part of this country and its culture.
People like you disgust me with your whiny azz ways DEMANDING hand outs.
Again GET YOUR WHINY AZZ OUT OF THIS COUNTRY IF YOU HATE IT SO MUCH!
