At least half of my humane society fosters have kennel cough and the best way to treat it is with a low stress atmosphere and vitamin supplements as it just has to run its course like a human cold. I give 1000 mg of ester vitamin C twice a day to a 50-70 lbs dog. A 10-20 lbs dog would be fine with 250 mg of ester C twice a day.

A stuffed up nose CAN be normal with kennel cough. However, kennel cough can also turn into pneumonia, and with pneumonia you usually see a stuffed up nose. If your dog shows any signs of lethargy (laziness), decreased appetite, or increased coughing, then you should have her rechecked and have chest x-rays done.

my dog had kennel cough last year and my brother in law told me to use my nebulizer on him with albuterol and he was over the cough in three days and i didn't have to take him to the vet. he also didn't have a runny nose, i guess it was due to the albuterol letting him cough out all of the stuff that was in there so it didn't have a chance to run out of his nose. if you have a nebulizer put her in a cage and put the nebulizer in the cage so she can breath the vapor, it really does help a whole lot. hope she feels better soon.

MY KITTEN WAS THE SAME WAY BUT THE VET SAID IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE BUT SHE COUGHED A LOT AND SNEEZED AND HAD A RUNNY NOSE COULDN'T BREATHE GOOD OR ANYTHING BUT WE GAVE HER AMOXICILLAN FROM THE VET AND NOSE DROPS IT HELPED A LITTLE BUT LET HER OR HIM BE IN A WARM ROOM AND PUT SOME VICK'S VAPOR RUB OR THE GENERIC KIND IN WATER AND LET HIM SMELL IT BUT NOT TO LONG JUST A FEW MINUTES IN A DAY OR SO THEY WILL BE ABLE TO BREATHE TRY IT I DID AND IT DOES WORK. IF NOT ASK A VET FOR NOSE DROPS IT WILL HELP OPEN HIM OR HER UP OK.

It is normal, I would just keep her on antibiotics and put a warm mist humidifier in the room that they dog stays in (you may have to confine it to one room). The warm humid environment helps break up the mucus and lets the dog breath easier. If you notice her getting worse, not getting any better, or really struggling to breath call your vet ASAP.
