There are likely more reasons for the invasion of Iraq than we'll ever know, but here are some things I've grabbed from many sites and people;
Bush and company wanted to control a large area in the middle east to establish a solid military presence in the region. The goal here is not to produce more oil, but to protect the area from an upcoming giant - China.
It was also peculiar that Iraq was starting to accept only Euros for their oil. The world standard is the US Dollar and when countries, companies, or people use other currencies to trade, the value of the dollar goes down.
And yes, Iran is quite the worry. It is definitely possible that Iraq was invaded partly because of Iran's troublesome nuclear development.

Well, what I believe is, is that he doesn't want to admit that he has lost the war in more ways than one. If he were to invade Iran, then i believe that the revolts in this country would worsen. Honestly, the only thing that Bush can do correctly now is to pull all of the troops out and let Iraq fend for itself. The war is pointless now, and was three years ago.

It is my firm belief that our intelligence agency's are not what they are cracked up to be. With the opportunity to look back many things that were said were dead wrong. I also think along with many others, that Cheney funneled hand picked intelligence reports to Bush. Bush, not being the sharpest tool in the shed, believed the garbage that he was being fed and wanted to go to Iraq and get Saddam, because "he threatened my dad". We now are an "Army of occupation" and we stand between the forces that are trying to kill each other. We will NOT win this war!! All that we can hope for is that all those involved with this conflict eliminate each other until there is no forces to be reconed with.

I believe that the "bad intel" was presented to the American people in order to creat a sense of urgency and a lot of people were duped. Look at what is happening now "Iran's government is supplying weapons to the insurgents". When I was a young boy I was told a story of "The little boy who cried wolf" well who's listening now "W" I also think that our president and his chickenhawk cronies want world domination...Iran would just be the next likely candidate as they have yet to produce an atomic warhead.

I could hide a WMD in a briefcase.....So do not be stupid and think they did not have them. REMEMBER all you idiots, Saddam used POISON GAS (a WMD) against the KURDS in the North and the Shia in the South. No wonder the Shia want revenge...they had 30 years of brutal dictatorship, mass murder, torture, and brutalization of minorities. Do you know the Kurds have just finished the American University of Kurdistan, plans for a National Park system, and both of their International Airports are up and running?

Bad intelligence. Who do you think lied? GW is holding his ground in Iraq because he thinks it is still winnable (a steady Iraqi government able to defend itself) and because if we leave before that, losing this battle would be about equal to losing the battle of the bulge in WW 2. Thank God, we did not lose it.
