Tempted by henna, but it does tend to look very dull brown. Are there any other non-permanent techniques out there for some fun. Open to moderate pain/grief/commitment, but I think I should live in ti before I have to live with it! Thanks.

Henna would be the obvious choice for non-commital body mod...but since you don't like the brownish colour it turns out I would suggest not trying it all all. There is such a thing called Black Henna, but it causes severe allergic reactions to many people. But if you want a temporary tattoo, it may seem goofy, but it is possible to get your fingernails tattooed. They only last until your fingernails grow out so the commitment isnt very long, and hey, if you dont like the design, you can always just paint your nails!

You can try the henna (yes it is brown, but it lasts for a good few weeks and you can get used to seeing your skin with artwork) OR, there is a new technique, where the ink only lasts 5 years or so - any reputable tatooist will discuss it with you.
or, for really temporary art work, you can get body paint and paint it your self with a paintbrush - I've seen some really intricate work done that way and there are millions of colours available.

Be really careful with henna, there is a particular kind of henna (black henna I think)that causes a huge allergic reaction in many people, meaning you end up with a scar the same shape as your tattoo. it is illegal in the UK due to this, but alot of kids on holiday abroad end up with permenant scars when they try it.
There are loads of different kinds of semi permenant types of tattoo, try a search engine to research them, but I always wonder, how do they guarantee it will definatley go away again? And if it is under the skin, surely it must fade away gradually, and look cr ap for quite a while while it does?

I love tattoos and I have 4. I think of them as body art.

u can get semi permanent tatoos now they only last about 5 years and gradually fade away.make sure if u decide to get a henna 1 that they do an alergy test first, lots of people are alergic to henna, my brother had 1 done and when the ink started to fade a horrible rash came up and he still has the scar in the shape of the tatoo now 5 years on so it might not be as semi permanent as they let u believe.ive heard this can happen a lot

E-bay has airbrush temporary tattoo kits - my sister bought one for £10.50! It's really good and is fab if you want to tat up for a night out.
You can even make your own stencils.

You can buy tattoo paper (like the paper temp tattoo's for kids) that you put your design on and then you can put it on yourself to see if you really want one. you can experiment with different designs and places. I would recommend tho if you do decide to get a tattoo to do your own design and make sure you keep the paper so no one else can have it.

all of the tattoos on www.tattoojohnny.com can be bought as a temperary tattoo that way you have a decent tattoo that wont last forever. henna looks great if its done properly, you can get in a black colour which would look nicer.

Airbrush tattoo kits are temporary but look real. They come with colours, airbrush, instruction video and stencils etc.

My friend got hers from Argos, and i think they still sell them, but check it out anyway.

Hope that helped and good luck! :]
