My 5 year old daughter suffers really badly with nose bleeds last year she had gromits put in, had her tonsils and her adanoids out and was even cauterised! which was all supposed to help but to no avail. Any suggestions what could be the cause?

hiya hunni, when i was your daughters age my nose used to bleed for hours for no reason what so ever....it just started bleeding, and it happened alot....like once a week. Im not sure what the cause was but when i was about 8 or 9 it didnt happen any more, im now almost 19 and im perfectly healthy, so i think you should give it time and it will go away....it could be just her age. I hope it is nothing serious but it is always best to get things checked out a doctor for your sake and hers. Good Luck Hunni, Sarah xxx
p.s - i do remember someone telling me that it could be from sudden heat change, like coming into a warm house from the freezing cold....but thats just one cause of nose bleeds.

Hiya, I had them when I was a kid. Anyway, I got cauterised and it seemed to stop it, mine where at night mainly for some reason. She isn't picking it is she? Because I did used to get a bit of a kick from the attention I'd get when I was pouring blood over all the carpets.

I used to have bad nose bleeds. Had lots of different explanations, from high pressure weather, to my hair being to long and the weight was causing pressure on my scalp and high blood pressure.
They stopped when I was around 13 ish. Also watch she isn't causing them herself. It was quite a good way to get out of school or something I didn't want to do by tapping the side of my nose, as that was enough to cause a bleed!!

Not 100% sure and dont want to worry you but i have heard that constant nose bleeds are dangerous and treatment is needed. I would go to the Docs/Hosp and get answers, without taking no for an answer.

I used to but they wore off eventually when I was a teenager. My son had them from being very small until he had his nose cauterized as a teenager. They wouldnt do it until he got to the stage of having at least three a day, lasting more than 15mins each. before then they said it wasnt 'serious enough'! They reckoned the cause was him having very delicated features and therefore small blood vessels which ruptured easily.

I had terrible nose bleeds as a kid. It was hayfever related and eventually stopped completely.
