Why does it seem to cut out at 90mph? can this be changed? How?

That's about right, its an electronic limiter that kicks in to limit your top speed. It can be defeated throuh a handheld programmer available from any car magazine.

It is a programmed protocol put into the vehicles VCM (Vehicle Control Module) for a reason, and it isn't to protect the engine. It has to do with the speed rating of the tires. Why change it? It's a pick up. Want to go fast? Buy a fast car or a truck designed to drive fast (SRT or SS). Yeah, you can change the speed limiter function with an aftermarket "programmer". But, if something would happen...you are on your own. No tire manufacturer or car manufacturer will back you. My advice, leave the truck alone and buy a sporty car. Later.

get your self a programer. you fix that problem
