Depends on how good the freezer is and how well you wrap the food. I had the top of my wedding cake in the freezer for one year. Because your suppose to eat the top of your wedding cake on your 1st year anniversary. The banquet wrapped my cake in atleast 5 plastic bags and each was tied tightly. After one year it tasted so good. Everyone loved it. Also the freezer was very good.
Explorers in Antartica have actually found food that was left by people 50 years ago and was edible because the cold kept it preserved. Just like extreme heat can kill many types of pathogens (e.g. bacteria) so can extreme cold.
Good Luck.

I've kept home made cake in my freezer for 6-9 months. They've been fine when defrosted. One of the answers above suggested heating the cake. I've never heard of that, many cakes are not suitable to be heated!

pressumabley you will heat the cake. yes?
so the minute chance of bacteria forming is illiminated by the heating up of your cake.

there's a custom with wedding ceremony tarts of storing area of it on your freezer till your 1st anniversary and then ingesting it... i understand people that've easily done it, so i wager that is secure to assert a minimum of one million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.
