Because the Germans were punks. Either the USSR or US/GB could have beat them without the other. The USSR was already winning before the invasion of Normandy. The main problem was extremely poor leadership, reliance on slave labor for critical wartime necessities, and overly complex and gas-guzzling tanks. Also their airplanes and airforce sucked, all of the operational aircraft were designs from the Spanish Civil War and they had no strategic bombers. By the time they were introduced, the V1,V2, and ME-262 were just farts in the wind.

Bannah:

Top three mistakes that Germany made that lost them WW2 (in order of worst):

1) Attacked the Soviet Union and opened up a 2nd front against a power with a much larger manpower pool and a willingness to sacrifice them.

2) Allowed Hitler to direct the war effort over Germany's many excellent Generals. Hitler may have been a brilliant and charismatic politician but he was an Artillery Coporal put in charge of the world's strongest military. The General Staff should have stood up to Hitler and refused his suicidal attacks and strategies.

3) Declared war on the United States. Don't get me wrong I believe that the US would have entered the war eventually but Germany made a huge mistake by getting the USA involved. It put a lot of pressure on the Western Front in Europe.

There were many reasons........

Germany lost on the Eastern Front at Stalingrad Adolph Hitler made the exact same mistake as Noplean Bonaparte when he attacked Russia Hitler and his top Generals underestimated the Russian winter his forces weren't equipped with the right winter clothing their weapons froze because of the cold and the Russians had many times more tanks.

Rommel lost in North Africa to Bernard Mountgomery

The Allies invaded Italy in 1943 and the Italians got out of the War.

The D-Day invasion:

1) The Germans miscalculated where the Allies would land

2) Rommel was not in France when the invasion took place
had he been there he would have given the order for his
panzer to move on the beaches where the Allies were
pinned down by heavy machine gun fire and motar fire.

3) Hitler was asleep he had taken a sleeping pill and his aide refused to wake him up had he been awake he would have given the order for his Panzer tank division to move on the beaches and it would have forced the Allies back into the sea.

3) The battle of the Bulge and Patton in Dec 1944

Germany lost because:

1) The British refused to surrender, even after continuous bombardment by the Luftwaffe

2) Germany turned against Russia. It made progress at first, but the Russians were on home turf and had greater resolve. They were also supplied by the British and Americans.

3) The USA was forced to declare war on Germany after Britain declared war on Japan the day after pearl Harbour.

4) Russians and British were fighting for their country's survival. Germans were fighting for a madman.

germany lost WWII because Hitler attacked Russia. He now had to fight two fronts instead of one, they could a have still beat Russia if the winter storm didnt hit.it pratically froze all of the moblie germany army, this is where the russians were able to beat the germans back.they were used to theis kind of weather and they were consideribly less mobile than the germans who were relaying on quick speed and fast manervering.
Also, the germans were spread out in italy and africa.they just had to many place to defend and not enough raw resources and men to fight where hitler was sending them

While Germany declared war on the US after pearl Harbor thinking that we couldn't fight on two fronts, it turns out he over estimated his Military by sending them into Russia. Dumb and very stupid Mistake. I would chalk up the Russian invasion as the top OOPS of why Germany lost.

Americas somewhat dubious invasion of normandie was the decisive factor.
USA made the mistake of denying germany the chance to grind away at russia. Just reloading their batteries, then some more attackwaves into russia.
The threat of former USSR would have been greatly reduced by germany this way.

Overwelmed by the Red Army. Like one German officer was quoted, "we were like an elephant attacking ants, we killed thousands, maybe millions, but in the end their numbers were such that we were eaten to the bone..."
