Easiest way is something called the "pizza stop" or "wedge stop."

lean forward in your boots, as if you are trying to pin a $100 bill between the boot and your leg. point the tips of your skis together, so that it forms a giant triangle, or pizza. The bigger the wedge, the quicker the stop, but never let your ankles go beyond your shouder width. Do not allow your knees to meet, as your knees will throw off your balance. it helps to imagine having a kickball between your knees.

If you are trying to do a hockey stop, try doing a wedge christie, and instead of finishing the wedge christie with another wedge, just dig the uphill edges into the snow. It takes alot of practice.

It's easy to explain, but it will be better if you take a lesson.

It's easy man. If you are a beginner and you want to stop use the plow techinque, where your legs buckle inwards and your ski make a plow shape. This is the most simple way to stop yourself. Another more difficult way is to "Hockey" stop. This is for more experienced skiers and it takes some time to get your balance correct. You just turn your skis and body side ways, and if you do it right, you will be able to spray some snow up into the air.

Of course, there is the "Tree" stop, when you just run into any blunt object that is sturdy and would catch your fall, while probably injuring you further ;) . I don't recommend this one :)

Thats it. HAVE FUN!
