I am a vet tech and i have a boxer/ breed them. Boxers can be stubborn. as all dogs can be. But being consist ant is the key. don't give in. and treats, giving to much can hurt the dogs digestive system. To many is not good for them. It's also like a bribe... try and get them to do it with out a treat and the treat is a every once in a while thing. That way the keep going in hopes. Raw hides and other treats are high in calorie intake and gives them diarrhea. My boxer, i give her turkey jerky for dogs. It's a more healthy treat.

every boxer i have encountered has a TON of energy. because of this you need to be a very consistent leader with them. you can't allow your rules to bend otherwise a hyper dog like that will go nuts and drive you in the same direction. make sure he gets alot of time to run around, because i'm guessing he probably does that a bit in the house. a tired dog will listen to what you say since he won't have the energy to argue about it. start with the basics and make sure to involve some small treats. try the general sit, down commands using the treats to keep focus. its at least a start towards showing that you are in charge. and don't give treats everytime the dog does what you want, try to do it randomly so the dog doesn't just expect a treat.

You can't expect him to do what you say when you say it. To get a well behaved dog you have to work hard on training. If you don't have time to devote to your dog's training send it to an obedience class or hire a trainer. Even if you can't do that just take 10 minutes every day to work on two commands that your dog may be able to learn in a week.

No boxers are smart dogs that want to do as there told but.........
The dog has to know what it is you want first I would say bring the dog to training and when he undrstands the commands he will be more likley to listen.

yes most boxers are like this, very bull headed! =) But there is hope!! Make sure you have ALOT of treats, even if its a cut up hotdog, make sure whatever it is that its very small... Dont feed him in the morning (just make sure he's very hungry!!) :o) And start with "sitting" and laying and show him what to do (like push his butt down to sit and PRAISE HIM like youve never done before!! :o) He will soon catch on and become the best pet.. Just be persistant and try making him sit and lay at least 25 times a day!! Best of luck for both of you!!

No. Just the ones with inexperienced owners. Dogs LOVE to interact with people, and will bend over backwards to do what the 'alpha male' expects. Your dog is seeing you as low in the pack hierarchy. Grow some cajones.
