Depends on what he is being so anal about.
Are you leaving the toilet unflushed? Then flush it.
Are you leaving dirty dishes in the sink? Then wash them.
Is he up in arms about the dust that appeared overnight? Tell him to chill. You have to learn to reach a happy medium if you are going to be roommates. That means you have to give, he has to give.
Sometimes the really anal people have reasons why they are like this. If you are being a disgusting slob, leaving food, clothes, used tissues laying around, then yes, he has every right to get on you about these things. If not, then try to bring some humor into it and try to get him to lighten up. Try a funny way of comparing him to Martha Stewart or something, he will get the point.
Are you paying your fair share? Are you paying on time? It is a two way street.
Good luck.

Communication
You guys should sit down and write out a list of pros and cons about being roommates. Then work out all the kinks. When we come together and talk things through, life is better, fun and relaxing.

It depends. Are his requests reasonable? Then take them seriously. If they are unreasonable, you might be concerned about his mental health. You can simply tell him that you're worried about him and offer to help him find an appropriate counselor.

Be specific. Maybe he has a good reason for how he responds. Maybe you're constantly doing stuff that you shouldn't be doing, with regards to disrespecting him and his possessions.
