They were called buffalo soldiers. I would really like to see someone make a movie about them and how they defended the west and westward expanison of the USA.

They were referred to as "Buffalo soldiers". They got the name from the Plains Indians who thought their wonderful hair looked like the curly hair of the buffalo.... Some thought they were brothers of the buffalo..interesting stories about this. Google "buffalo soldiers" and do a little reading.

buffalo soldier. they were based out off fort leavenworth, kansas and were part of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment.
