Here in Canada I usually don't buy it unless its between $4.99 and $5.99 for a 24 can case (355ml per can). 2L bottles I usually wait for them to be $1.00 - $1.50 and the 541ml bottles I buy only when they are on sale at Wal-Mart or some other such store for $3.57 for a 6 pack. Just curious what everyone else thinks.

Coke and other soft drinks are made with high fructose corn syrup. More and more studies show that HFCS is very bad for you, worse than regular sugar.

Studies also suggest that it leads to adult onset diabetes and other nasty diseases.

I would suggest kicking the soda from your diet. I did and lost 20 lbs in a few months. My stomach started feeling better and I saved a lot of money.

They use a fungus and two enzymes to break down the corn starch into smaller carbs and then add the mixture back to regular corn syrup making the HFCS.

It shortcuts your bodies necessary processes of breaking down sugar and sets you up for poor health. It is very dehydrating and does not quench your thirst at all. The thirst quenching aspects of beer and soda are a myth. Water is the only true thirst quencher.

I grew up on about a six-pack of bottles per day. Now I choose water, real juices, fine coffees or teas.

I don't mean to lecture you but I was ignorant about this, too until someone told me and I investigated it for myself.

Don't trust me, check it out.

Here in the US a 6-pk Coke is usually on sale for $6, it's very close to the Coke's employee discount price. The 2L is usually on sale for $1 or $1.25. So looks like the prices are reasonable in your area - stock up when they are on sale.

It all depends on the size and where you purchase it. In Tokyo you have vending machines all over the place and a can of Coke will usually cost you 120 yen for a small can to 150 yen for a 500ml bottle/can. If you go to a supermarket or convenience store you should expect to pay a little less. Then there are the discount stores where you can pay about 100 yen for the small can and 120 yen for the 500ml variety.

Thats what we pay for it here in Akron, Ohio but there is a hardware store that has an old time vending machine that sells 8 oz. glass bottles for 10 cents.
