definitely see your pediatrician and make sure there's not something wrong, but in the meantime, try not to worry too much. if there's not some underlying medical problem, she'll get to it when she has enough confidence. be encouraging when you see attempts, but don't try too hard to make it happen. enjoy her lack of mobility now, though. once she gets the hang of it, she's going to be a handful. the stats that say a child should be walking by such and such an age are pretty general, all kids do things in their own time. if she's standing and walking by holding onto things, she's most of the way there already. i know people who's kids started even later than yours. there wasn't anything wrong with them, they just took their sweet time. i caught my own daughter doing all sorts of things when she thought i wasn't looking, like getting up on her hands and knees preparatory to crawling, which she actually mostly by-passed and started walking. she got her feet under her at nine months and a week later the climbing started and i've been chasing ever since. question, how do you know she can? do you mean you've seen her when she didn't know you were looking, but won't walk to you when you try to get her to? that is normal, if that's what's going on. it sounds like a confidence thing.

I'll bet she's a great crawler.
My daughter walked at nine months. She was a crummy crawler.
My son was a great crawler and he didn't walk until 14 months. I think if they have a way to get around that works well they aren't in such a hurry to take those scary steps.
My girlfriends son and one of my nephews were a year and a half.
She'll walk when she is ready! I know it is stressful now but this won't be a big deal in the scheme of things.

My son could walk at 11 months, but would only do it when he didn't think people were watching. He finally started walking around when he was 14 months. My son did the same thing with crawling, but he didn't wait 3 months to show everybody.

I had a nephew that was a late walker. also my grandson although he could he choose not to walk to a bit later.
we knew both could they'd take few steps here and there...
but just no desire to do it more.
i know though if you feel it is a concern you should inquire to your doctor and also think of any other sysmptons that could be of concern to him. it could be something like ear infection and your child feels dizzy so thus doesn't want to walk/
but i'd make sure doctor knows as know ones in our town will listen and also know the particular situation the best.

My son didn't start walking until 15 months. Needless to say, at the time, I was a little worried too. Kids develop at their own pace - don't worry though - they all even out in the end!

Our daughter is only now starting to babble more. She's seventeen months as well. I honestly think each child will talk at their own age. I'm not too worried about it, more enjoying hearing her try to have a conversation with us than anything. If your child doesn't say anything at all, then there may be a problem, but you said you know she can talk. Try reading to her more and talking to her more. Encourage her to speak and if she does, praise as if she discovered the cure for the common cold! Also, I suggest getting her together with other babies, or even children, who can talk. She may feel so left out of the conversation she may start talking in order to be able to communicate with the other kids.

How do you "know" she can walk if she isn't doing so? She needs to see a doctor ASAP. Not walking by 15 months is an indicator of more serious problems.

My nephew couldn't walk until 17, Don't worry it's because she doesn't have enough confidence to walk. Help her.
