My vet didn't vaccinate him last year since he never comes into contact with other cats. And I work in a cat shelter where some of the cats are sneezing...

The shelter cats are sneezing from an upper respiratory virus not the corona virus. Many cats have the corona virus in their systems and it is a mutated form of that virus that causes FIP in cats.

I worried about that issue too as I spent many years and a lot of hours working with cats in shelters. My cats never had any problems with flu in that time..

Oh my goodness - YES! All feline viruses, with the exception of Feline AIDS, are HIGHLY contagious. They can be carried on your clothes and into your home to your unsuspecting cats. Feline vaccinations shouldn't only be given dependent on the cats lifestyle, but also your own. I am a vet tech and my cats never go outside. However, they are all vaccinated against everything except Feline AIDS. (FIV, aka feline AIDS, is passed by a bite from one infected cat to another)
