Natural Balance, Wellness, Solid Gold, anything that you do not find in your grocery or discount store would be a good choice.

if you mean canned go for the high end brands that ARE NOT IN GROCERY STORES. innova, wellness, blue buffalo, canidae and many others. there is nothing at the grocery store that i would be comfortable feeding my dog. just because you see it on tv doesn't mean its good it just means they have a big budget for advertising. go to a pet store and look for foods without corn and or soy products in them. also avoid any meat by-products as you have no idea what that really is. also don't go strickly with canned foods, try soaking a high quality dry food in room temperature water for about 10 minutes before feeding. you can also combine a good canned food and a good dry food because the canned foods have more flavor most of the time. i actually add salmon oil, which is great for the skin and coat, to my dogs food. it has a strong smell so they naturally pay more attention to it plus for me it helps in the winter when its very dry indoors.

My best recommendation for a picky dog would be both the kibble and can food made by Merrick Pet Products. Good Luck

Science Diet is a good quality food. You can get it in hard or soft. The only problem with soft food is that you will have problems with her teeth and gums down the road and eventually have to have a dental on her if you do not clean her teeth yourself. Try staying with a hard food, but maybe soften it using water for a while. Gradually add less and less water until she is used to eating it hard. If you are set on feeding her only soft food, try cleaning her teeth every once in a while. You can buy a doggy toothpaste and tooth brushes to use, or you can simply make a paste out of baking soda and water, put it on your finger, and rub in on her teeth and around her gums. The grittiness of it will help clean plaque off of her teeth. I would try the moistened hard food and gradually working your way up from there before trying a wet food.

Dogs are better off eating hard kibble - it will save you money down the road when she doesn't need teeth surgery as an elderly dog, or get the kidney & heart problems that come from eating only a soft food diet (and not getting her teeth clean), too.

Sorry to say, I also made that mistake. Put down a good quality, recommended dry. And wait. Try it for a few days. I almost flipped out thinking my dogs would "starve". No. When they are hungry. Really hungry. They will eat. It's not fun to watch, but it does work. And you are doing the right thing and helping the dog.

Mighty Dog. It comes in puppy-senior food cans, and my 2 dogs both eat it. my 12 and 15 year old dogs also ate it when they were alive. It coomes in chicken, rice, beef, or many other varieties. give it a go!
