Like sucking a thumb it is a hard habit to break..children suck on things because they want comfort.as it is a reminder of instinct of suckling as a baby..don't tell her to "STOP IT".as that only make it worse..try to give her something that is comforting but at the same time distracting her from her habit..i.e.a soft toy that has friendly feeling..that she could use as a comforter..she will grow out of it..I know a young girl who used to suck on her lower lip all the time..even though she was 12..I found out later that she was the middle child of three ..she wasn't the favorite..and did this to seek attention..you've got to convince her she is loved also..

Most children just stop one day. It's better not to pay any attention to it. It like a security blanket. Some stop when they get a little older and they are embarrassed that somebody saw them or that somebody knows. It's also better not to make fun of them about it. One day you'll realize she isn't doing it any more.
