I'll leave the details to you. You can say the situations where you would or wouldn't, etc.
To me, I hope I would be able to do so (especially if it were a child). Of course, I wouldn't know unless that choice ever came my way. It's a difficult question to some degree.

There are people that do this every day. Soldiers, police, fireman, etc.

As for me, I think I could. But as you said, no one really knows until they are faced with the situation. I tend to believe most of us would react to help the other person instinctively, without regard to what might happen to us.

If I had no children of my own, and my death would save the life of a child, I certainly would. If I did have my own children, I'm not sure I would be willing to abandon them, but I may do so anyway--the life of a child is precious. I must admit I don't honestly think I would die for a perfect stranger who was an adult, although you never know until you are in the situation.

I don't think I would consciously give my life for a perfect stranger. I'm not saying I wouldn't try to save people where I could, but I'm a mother of two small children, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I would never want to leave my children motherless, so I'm not going to put myself in that degree of danger.

I don't think people can know for sure what they'd do when faced with a difficult decision.

I pray that I would do the right thing if ever that choice came my way.

i think i would put myself in a life threatening situation for others yes ...
but i would hope this did not take my life as i have children to live for
but there was one lady a few years ago who died in a fire , and i have thought about this often
if i had been there , i am not sure i could hold myself back from trying to help her
and yes this is probably a stupid thing to do ... but i could not see someone needing help and not try to help

No, but I'd give my life for the Perfect Strangers: Balki Bartokomous and Cousin Larry Appleton.

Nope. What makes their life worth more than mine? besides, people are generally unappreciative of simple things like holding the door open, how would giving my life make anything better for them?

People make their own choices on how their lives unfold, and I wouldn't want to get in the way of their destiny.

Jesus did tell us that, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) I would hope that I'd would if the circumstances were right but I can't really say so until and if it does happen.

I believe that I would.

Have had situations within my life when such could have been the outcome - but thankfully it turned out differently.
