A lot of cats like to be in sinks. If you have any concerns about it being a problem go to: www.catsinsinks.com which has hundreds and hundreds of pictures of cats in sinks.

Hahaha!! I thought my cat was the only one who does that!!For the sake of the argument we will just assume they are not smoking crack!! Allthough I do wonder!!
I find my cat prefers fresh water from the sink, even though i am constantly changing her bowl water.I even found contraptions at the pet store that have electric water bowls that constantly move the water almost like a fountain. So, I know drinking from the tap is not too odd for cats.
As far as the sink goes... I have a theory. I noticed that when I lived in california, during the hot summers.. she would always be laying in the bathroom sink.I think the cool ceramic helps them cool down.I just moved to ohio and am having a very cold icy winter.Once again.. I found her in the sink.I am thinking she is in the sink again because there is a heating vent near the sink and with the bathroom being a smaller room, it can possibly keep her warmer.
My only other guess would be that they are waiting for someone to turn on the tap for them and with sink being kind of small and sunken it probably just makes a cool hang out for them.Anyways, I hope this helps.

It's not that uncommon, a lot of cats like to sit in sinks. I don't think anyone has found out why, but cats seem to like the feel of the porcelain around them, and I guess the feeling of the enclosed sink. A lot of cats sit in shoe boxes, I guess it's the same thing. As far as the water, well, they just get a quick drink, a lot of cats are very thirsty all the time. Don't think it's anything to worry about. If it bothers you, just keep the cat out of the bathroom by closing the door.

Geeze, I hope she isn't smoking crack! It's a cat thing, I had a cat that was all white, was in the bathroom sink all of the time, sleeping. One day I looked all over for her and didn't realize she was in the sink until she lifted her head up to look at me. They love the bathtub too! This kitty that I have now won't drink water out of a bowl. I have to leave the faucet in the tub on a trickle so she can drink at her leisure. I don't own her, she owns me!

It's comforting to her. It's a good size and shape for her feline body. It's like a little cat-bed for her -- rounded with no corners and conforming to her shape. My male cat does the same thing, but usually will only do it to my daughter's right sink -- the one she doesn't use and stays dry. A lot of cats love to drink from running water. I purposely did not get my cats in the habbit of this, as I will not leave a sink running and run up my water bill. They are happy to drink from their water cooler type bowl.

If her lying in the sink irritates you and you don't use this sink or can use another one, put double-sided tape along the edge and throughout the bowl. Cats HATE to be stuck to tape.

my cats do this as well, one of them sits on the counter and watched the tap drip, when he was a kitten he used to cry when this happened until someone came to turn off the tap. this cats father likes to catch the water as it drips, and also has a thing for watching the toilet flush.
many cats love water, there is a breed of cat called the bengal who absolutly loves water, ealry hybrids of the breed are reported to have preferd eliminating in runing water to a litter box.
i had a cat a few years ago who enjoyed taking baths with me, i discovered this one day when she fell off the side of the tub and into the water with me, she just sat there and after wads would jump in on poupose.we had to close the door so she couldnt get in, she would stand by the bathroom door and cry. she really loved water.

cats like to lay in cool places when they are over heated, it may also be that your cat likes the feeling of the cool sink on her fur.
she will probly get board with it after a while, my little white cat no longer hangs out at the sink anymore, although they all like to gather around the bathroom when you are taking a bath to see what you are doing, fortunatly none of them like to jump in with me.

Lots of cats do this. Your cat just finds the sink comfortable.

Some cats like water. Most sinks are cold so she might be hot. If she seems lethargic take her to the vet.

okay your cat is not smoking crack, she may be doing catnip lol.
the sink in the bathroom may be just the right shape for her to curl-up and take a nap. it is also the right temperature for her. don't worry as long as she's not using it for a litter box there is no problem. just keep the liquid plumber near, the drain is probably full of hair.

MY CAT WOULD LIKE TO DRINK THE FRESH WATER OUT OF THE SINK FAUCET. THE CAT FEELS SECURE IN THE SINK AND PROBABLY LIKES THE COOL-NEST OF THE SINK. IF YOUR CAT IS YOUNG IT WILL PROBABLY GET OVER THIS. IF IT IS OLD IT MIGHT BE THERE BECAUSE OF ARTHRITIS.
