My tv is a junky dvd/tv combo. I received it for christmas from target. The brand is Trutech- explains why my parents got it for $80. I guess you get what you pay for- Within a few weeks it stopped reading dvd's. About a week later it began working again. Now I decided to watch a dvd, problem is now the dvd player will NOT OPEN!! I CANNOT TAKE MY DVD OUT, and am quite tired of watching the same thing! I've shut it off, unplugged it... will not open! I wish I would've read the online reviews for the tv before I opened it. There's no troubleshooting in the book... cannot take it back because the box has been thrown out. This tv is awful. Help? how can I get my dvd player to open??

Here are the reviews if you wanna check them out:

I dunno, try using a flathead screwdriver or a butter knife to pry it open while at the same time holding the eject button.

You might still be able to take it back without the box though if you have the receipt. Call Target and ask.
Also, there might be a manufacturer warranty that's still good.

You might wanna try this. When videos used to get stuck in the VCR, I learned that if you unplug it for about 30 seconds or more that it will deaden the commands to the unit. Then when you plug it back in, the first command that you enter, it will take. Try it. It's better than taking a screwdriver to it right off. It couldn't hurt. You may also want to call an electronics store like Radio Shack or Circuit City. Sometimes they know tricks too. Good luck.

It sounds a little ghetto, but you need to unplug you TV and then wedge a butter knife in there carefully and pull or push the tray out. Either the motor on you tray is out, or it is off track. Either way you can use a butter knife for a while until the DVD player gives out.

Some optical drives have a tiny hole you can pock with a paper clip to make it open. Once you have it open, unplug the power so it stays open and you can turn it upside down and shake it etc. But that may not be enough. You may have to take the top off.

Unplug it and leave it unplugged for about 10 minutes. Then plug it back in and it should have forgotten why it wouldn't open.
