I own a 2wd jeep grand cherokee, 2004, and would like to know how I can switch it to a 4x4? what years can I salvage the parts from, what paerts will I need. I love this jeep, but would love it more if it was 4x4. Also, started having weird tranny gear slips, won't shift correctly.

It would be far cheaper to get one already equipped with four wheel drive than to upgrade. You're looking at almost the complete drivetrain and suspension as well as computer, on top of the transmission repair you already have to do.

It would be cheaper to get rid of your jeep and buy one that is already 4WD, and since your looking at a transmission rebuild already then its by far not worth messing with your current jeep.

To convert from 2WD to 4WD, you have to have a transfer case, new front axle, front driveshaft, change rear driveshaft, change interior due to having to add transfer case shift lever, plus changing the computer, adding wiring and hoses for the 4WD system, etc. So its by far cheaper to just sell your current jeep and buy one that is already 4WD.

your 3 year old transmission is slipping ? that's scary , like the others say don't convert , maybe you can find one with body damage and swap parts , good luck
