when the car is driven for 5-10 miniutes and then try to start the car would not.Once the engine cools down starts again.Mechanics have replaced 2 distributors thinking the problem is with the coil.So far it has not resolved the problem. With the replacement of the first distributor the car ran ok for about a month then the problems started once again. All other obvious causes have been eliminated.Could this be attributed to a faulty computer? Any suggestions?

Check the battery terminals, believe it or not just havine a loose connection at the battery can cause your car to not start.

On 12 year old cars start with the basics. Spark, Fuel and Air. Remove the spark plugs look at the center electrode. Are they black and oily? or clean grayish color? latter preferable. Run a compression test over 10 ATU or 145 psi good. Now be safe remove the fuel line and T into it a pressure gage. Holding pressure should be approx 1.5 ATU 19 psi one hour. If the check valve on the fuel pump is bad this will cause extended crank time. I see lots more leaky fuel injectors than computer issues. Flooding issue can be diagnosised by holding the throttle wide open while cranking. This clears the extra fuel then the engine will try to start.

sounds more like a bad ignition module to me. i had stuff like that happen on a chevy and spent 600 to fimd out it was the ignition module all the time. also had that problem on a ford.i replaced the coil distributor cap rotor and plus and plug wires on my brothers old car to find out it was the ignition module.when the one on my old chevy went it would vary on how long it took to cool off until it would restart but it always restarted. eventually they will go completely stranding you.
