My puppy Lexi is very sick. I posted a few days ago and everyone seemed to think it was parvo. She tested negative for parvo, and she has been at the vet clinic for two days. They have a drip in her but they dont know what is wrong with her. She hasn't eaten in about four days. She was dry-heaving and vomiting bile and foam. Everytime she drinks water she vomits. She also has diarrea. I know it sounds like parvo but it isn't. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

There is a bush outside of my house with red berries on it. I caught her eating one before and made her quit. I told the vet about this as well.

OKAY! Lexi is better! The vet let her come home! He said it was just a gastrointestinal infection or virus. Thanks for all of your help!!

Could be coronavirus, it's similar to parvo but not as severe. Could be an intestinal obstruction too, or partial obstruction since she's still passing some diarrhea, have they done x-rays or barium yet? If she ate something soft like a sock it won't show up on regular x-rays. Also it could still be parvo, if you caught it right away there's always the chance the first test didn't show it but a second test might. She's in the best place she can be right now. Good luck to you and Lexi.
Oh, and it does NOT sound like rabies. With rabies, they have neurologic symptoms, NOT vomiting and diarrhea, and they are unable to swallow.
Coccidia and giardia can cause nasty diarrhea, but not usually vomiting.
Greenies do NOT cause cancer. They can cause obstructions if swallowed whole or in large chunks, this usually happens when a dog is given the wrong size. And they've recently changed the formula to prevent that.
Rat poison causes internal bleeding, swollen joints, excessive bleeding at injection and catheter sites, and telltale bruises called petechia.

Try taking up his food for 24 hours. See if that helps with the runs. But you really should get a young puppy to the vets if it's being sick and having the runs. Puppies can get severely dehydrated when they are sick/have runs... and can be fatal. Also, you have only had your puppy a few days, so it could be the stress of it all causing him to have an upset tummy. Also, Pedigree and Bakers is the worst food you can feed your dog. It's absolutely cheap, nasty and horrid. It's full of addatives, colourings and God knows what else. It also contains corn/wheat which some dogs are allergic to. I recommend you changing his food to a better brand, like maybe James Well Beloved or Orijen. Obviously don't do it too soon, do it gradually over a 10 day period. Adding a bit of the new in with his current food, then gradually increase the new food and decrease the old... if you do it too quickly, that will also upset his stomach.

It could be coccidia. Ask your vet to look at a sample of her feces under the microscope and see if there is any bacteria or any other parasite in it. Even if she has been wormed, she could still have worms or some other form of parasite. Young pups can get coccidia very easily. See if your vet sells a prescription diet food called A/D or a gel called NutriCal. You can mix teh A/D with water to make a watery substance and give it to her with a syringe. The same with the NutriCal. They both have a great taste to them so the pup will take it easier, and both help to put weight on and get the digestive system back on track. They also make I/D (intestinal diet) that you can give her if it is something with her digestive tract. Ask the vet again to look over her. The vet I work in had a pup come in a few days ago that had this problem. She stayed with us for 2 days...we did this treatment with her (the A/D and NutriCal) and gave her fluids and she is better now.
Best of luck to you.

yep sounds libe bacterial infection if its bile and foam or it could be a straight viral infection (Not parvo). Or may be Coccidia thats an intestinal parasite. If she were home Id have you give her some pepto bismal for her stomach and have you feed her through a eye dropper. I would also have you contact amber technology for some antiboitics and coccidia medication.
I suggest you call the breader and ask it this has happened before or it any of the other pups are sick.
You know I am sooooo sick of people saying parvo everytime a pup has this type of illness. There are a hugh number of other things it could be.

could she have gotten a hold of any kind of poison? I had a dog that got some rat poison and she nearly died but I knew what she had eaten and could tell the vet, maybe you should ask him the symptoms sound just like poison. I hope you find out and she is o.k.

Yes, I am so sorry. I have heard that your puppy will die. If not, they have put her on very heavy antibiotics. One thing, if she doesn't drink, give her ice cubes. The vet will know what to do. Oh, and if you gave your dog greenies (bones), that isn't good. They don't digest i the stomach and cause stomch cancer. Maybe they might have to do surgery to find out what is wrong with her. I hope she does get better.

we had a rescue that this happened to, she had been rolling in a patch of scent and then she went down like a brick, wretching, screaming in agony when you touched her tummy, took her to vet as she was getting really bad, vet gave her a large dose of antibiotics, within 12 hrs was fine unknown cause, antibiotic used nasamox, very strong.

Anyone in your neighborhood doing renovation? Sounds like a case we had a few months ago of lead exposure.
